Now thats pretty disappointing- I'm not paying all this cash to
watch friggin Swarthmore etc come to Stony Brook. I really don't
mind paying the ticket prices but at least make the games
watchable. I don't understand why they're struggling to get
teams to come to Stony Brook.

I hope they do better than that for the money they expect us to
pay. Not a good start to opening a new venue playing D3
programs. Second problem they really don't help our RPI down
the road. Why are we the only ones who wind playing lower
divisional teams ?

We are partially victims of our own success. I think in this
first year especially teams think SB might be a real tough out
in the new arena. Hofstra was asked to open the new building
and they said no way. They said we could play at Hofstra year 1
and they would return the game year 2. I think UMass was asked
for a game and they also said, "you already beat us at home, why
do you think we'd play you there?" Rumor has it one big time
program offered a 3 for 1 deal to SB. SB has to play at their
place 3 times, with zero guarantee money. for one time at SB.
Another local big time program who someone on the coaching staff
has ties to basically said there was no way theyd give up almost
a million dollars for a home game to travel to SB. I am sure
the athletic dept will find a couple more OOC D1 games, but at
what cost. SB is going to end up paying a big price to get a
couple more games.

I know our home record is pretty impressive over the last
several years . Add to that a great fan base and student
section. Someone once called Pritchard the pit to play in,
now I know why these teams don't want to plays us. Oh well
success has a down side.

You guys don't have to worry too much about paying for non d1
games. If you remember vermont went through some trouble when
they played 2 non D1's at home last year considering we have to
play UMass lowell in conference. Expect our usual D3 matchup but
not more than one. Personally I'd be happy with some quality
MAAC, Patriot League matchups to fill up the schedule. Maybe
even an A10 matchup at home.

That's a really good point- the NCAA ignored that rule just for
last year but you can guarantee nobody will forget about it this
year.
That makes me feel a lot better. Obviously conference play is
most fun but I want some good out of conference games. I don't
want to see a single non-DI game- there are so many DI teams out
there that there is no need to dip into the DII/DIII world. All
you do is risk an embarrassing loss- that Haverford game was
actually tight for a little bit!
I was perfectly happy (with the exception of the waste of
Haverford) with last year's OOC slate and it should only get
better with the new arena.
Marist, Northeastern, FDU, St. Francis, and Cornell are a solid
group. Add in the Wounded Warrior challenge which helped.
If we aim for 6 home OOC games:
1-2 games against NEC (lots of local schools)
1 Patriot League game (this conference lost a lot of luster with
BU imploding)
1-2 against the MAAC (again, easy transportation)
1 CAA team (Hofstra at least hopefully)
1 A10 team (we can hope)
+-1 Ivy League squad
While we establish the new arena, I would be very pleased with a
home slate with these squads. Just please, I don't want to spend
money to watch guys who I could arguably roll with.

We have few local metro schools in our area which would make
good matchups - Iona, LIU, Wagner, Manhattan and Fordham and
don't forget Army . I think Columbia and Loyola will be home
games since we played them on the road last season. We shall see
.

Colombia and Loyola are indeed the two home ooc games this
season so far. I have Colombia winning the Ivy this year. They
return everyone off a very good team. Loyola lost their best
scorer off a bad team. At home we should handle them. I am not
going to say with ease, but I am definitely thinking with ease.
I have us 1-1 at home OOC this year so far.

As an aside - I realize we are way off topic in this thread -
but 14 recruiting is done. As a matter of fact 15 recruiting is
done too. Unless someone leaves there are zero scholarships
available next year. The following year we have 4. (I do not
even want to think about that as that will be our post Warney
era.)
