2014 Recruiting

I thought it was an appropriate time to introduce this topic.
It looks like SBU is kicking things off in hot pursuit of point
guards. The one I've seen some video of is Austin Tighman, and
he looks like he could be a real good one. But Paul Jorgensen
has also received a Seawolves offer. In addition, Aaron Edmead
from Deer Park has been on the interest list for some time.
This is all well and good, and I realize that a focus is to go
after an excellent point guard every other year to keep the
momentum going for that key position. However, somehow I wish
there were more of a sense of urgency to go after a power foward
or center early on. These guys are harder to get, as there are
many fewer of them and the ones there are tend to go higher D-1,
but if SBU goes after a good one early ( a la Warney), maybe
they can steal a good one again!!
BTW has anyone but me noticed that this site's posting clock has
never caught up with daylight savings time? Can that be fixed?
Until I noticed it I was beginning to think that all you guys
were getting up before dawn just to post.

From twitter it looks like Stony Brook has a 2014 commitment
from Bryan Sekunda. I think he's going to take a prep year
before coming to Stony Brook. There doesn't seem to be too much
information available, but it looks like his father was a stud
for Penn State back in the 90's and those kinds of kids
(puriefoy) seem to have a pretty strong grasp on the game.

This kid looks like a prolific scorer (over 20 pts./game over
his HS career), and not afraid to drive to the basket. His FT%
is sterling, according to his HS stats, if you can believe them.
There is plenty of video on-line for those interested to check
him out.

Any word on recruiting? I really haven't seen anything yet.
Would be nice to have an idea who the coaching staff is focusing
on.

It looks like the early recruiting focus has centered
significantly on the point guard position. Interest apparently
has been shown in a significant number of them, with the
following offers reportedly having been made so far:
--Paul Jorgensen (has impressed many so far)
--Austin Tilghman (a powerfully built, hard driver)
--Shavar Newkirk (very sought after, but seems to have
eliminated SBU from consideration)

Looks like Stony Brook is in on recruiting Dominque Uhl. He'll
be hard to land as he already has offers from Temple and Boston
College. Uhl's originally from Germany. Hopefully Nyama can help
in the recruiting.

Doubt very seriously if you have a chance to get him; his
recruitment has been blowing up, and whether justified or not,
he seems destined for the hi-mid level at least. He's raw but
talented, and I think you need more of a true "big" in this
class. Here's some info on him:

I did see that you offered (per verbal commits) a 6'9' big from
Michigan, Deyonta Davis, but he's a '15 kid:

Looks like the Seawolves have made offers to two more PGs (By my
count, that's 5 for that position to date:
--Derrick Brooks (Florida)
--DeShaun Thrower (Michigan)
