Lets start off with the obvious. No chance at an at-large bid
to the NCAA. To be honest, I don't know if we get better than a
7 seed in the NIT (realistically I think we're an 8). Lets call
it like it is, losses to Sacred Heart, Hartford, Albany, and
Vermont with our best win being against Vermont (RPI 123...)
Thats not the resume you want. Basically we'd face off with
whoever gets shafted by the NCAA.
Until I see something that shows otherwise, I'm going to assume
that Pikiell is incapable of winning big games. Specifically
because of his substitution patterns. I'd go into details, but
the fact is, we've covered this many many many times before.
You can't say its the talent, this team was much more talented
than any other. You can't blame it on the players, as we saw
which ones were ready (King, Puriefoy, Warney) and which ones
were completely overwhelmed (Mayo, Bracey). Thats on the coach.
The best thing I can say about last nights loss is that at least
we don't have to watch Vermont celebrate on our floor again.

NONE. If we would've defeated Uconn, Maryland and Seton Hall
which were all competitive matches we could've probably had some
chance. But since we didn't. There is no chance at all

Seton Hall really laid an egg this year. Vermont is rated
higher, which makes our loss to SH more damaging.

Any consolation here? Other than the NIT???
We got some good ink. So there's growth. We went to the head
of the class in the NYC area, thats good for recruiting.
And how about this- we dont draw attention to Pikiell (or did
we?). Is that even a victory though, considering we didnt make
       the NCAAs?

I got over the loss already. Im not worried about the state of
our program. Pikiell will stay. The guys will stay and the NCAA
will come sooner than later. We will have a new arena which will
be the best or one of the best mid major facilities in the
region. We got a shot at making some noise in the NIT So lets
       enjoy it. Lets go seawolves!!!

There are some good things that came out of the loss....
       (1) Our freshman class (specifically Warney) won't be leaving
for bigger and better things. This means that being one of the
top teams in the America East is pretty much a lock for the next
few years. This means more chances at an auto-bid.
       (2) Albany's fans showed how low the bar has fallen for them.
You're a #4 who beat a #1 at home on a last second layup to win
a semifinal match. If thats worthy of rushing a court and
celebrating like you won the Super Bowl, then I guess I don't
understand how awful their team must be.
       (3) Pikiell has some pressure on him now. This is a really good
thing. It's four straight years of the same game-script in big
spots, and four straight years of failure. Either he grows as a
coach and learns to adapt to one-and-done basketball, or he
doesn't. Either way, we'll know exactly what we have, and Fiore
can make a decision. Please don't misunderstand, I don't think
he needs to be fired, or even that he needs to be put on the
hot-seat, but he needs to understand that losing like this,
again and again, is not going to be acceptable. It's gut check
       time.
       (4) SBU & Fiore got to see how critical hosting the tournament
is. Between Albany this year, and Hartford the last few,
hosting the tournament is a massive advantage. As soon as the
arena is finished, you cut the check and host the event. Find a
donor, and if you have to, you call it the "America East
Tournament, sponsored by ecasado and s few dudes from Computer
       Associates". Whatever it takes.
       (5) NIT berth. It beats the hell out of a CBI or CIT game, and
we use it as a learning tool for the players AND coaches. Maybe
even try doing something like playing your starters for 8 whole
minutes, or using Mayo and Warney at the same time, or try
starting Tre over Coley. Silly things like that...
Thats about all the positive I can take from the loss. Well
that, and either Vermont or Albany lose on Saturday morning.
I'll be playing golf, as I don't have to worry about any other
commitments from 11:30-2:00 (ok, we'll call that positive thing
       #6).

Who wants to go to MSG in April to watch our boys take home the
       Trophy ??
Chairman. Would you be so kind and start a thread for the NIT.
There will be a lot of buzz going around here when SB wins the
       first round...

I'll take a final four NIT appearance at the Garden over
       one-and-done NCAA Tournament appearance anytime.
