This guy click is trying so hard to be a dbag. Albany fans have
such inferiority complex that they feel the need to brag when
they win a tourney chip. We are not self appointed flagships. We
are AAU universities ranked more than 30 spots above Albany.
Also I went to albany last week and the facilities dont have the
feel of a university. The academic podiumbis more
reprensentative of a small college. NYS should consider
investing heavily in facilities up there...

SBU fans, don't feel you need to dominate all before a move up.
If you have the right attributes a league will want you. Temple
didn't beat a MAC team with a winning record in football but got
back into the nBE. UCF was scraping along in the A-Sun but
jumped all the way to CUSA. UB was an FCS Indy playing other
sports in the Mid-Con, with an increadible Valpo program in our
way of making the NCAA tournament every year, but the MAC
unanimously invited us anyway because of our academics and to
get into Upstate NY markets...similar attributes that will get
SBU an FBS invite someday.
Ah Click of BPF old, did I really say anything about the AE
Tournament that was not true? Did you not hear the talking heads
on ESPN and CBSSports groaning over the AE tournament's set-up?
Most realize it's not optimal, especially for a low-major
basketball league.
Your bolded contention should for logic's sake read UA is the
best Athletic Department among all of America East SUNY's. The
differences between it and the quality programs Buffalo sees in
the MAC are wide. UA and SBU should work hard to move up to the
mid-major level and try it out, and get away from a league where
1/2 of the schools don't even try to compete in basketball. A
league which associate with UMass-Lowell, while the MAC
associates with UMass...and WVU, Mizzu, UNI, ODU. AE is derided
as "America Least" while the MAC has earned the "MACtion" label
from ESPN. An Orange Bowl team in NIU, a recent men's soccer
national champion in Akron, a team that made the CWS just as SBU
did in Kent St, and superior basketball: better arenas, tv
exposure, tournament site, and Kent St making the Elite 8 in
2002, Ohio beating Georgetown in 2010 then making the Sweet
Sixteen in 2012.

Also, SBU should conduct a similar study of questioning that UB
is going through now
HTML http://www.buffalo.edu/ub2020/realizing-ub-2020/read-current-draft.html...maintain<br
/>our current athletics trajectory to complete with MAC schools,
or invest at AAU peer levels and dominate the MAC, or more.
Imagine if you did the same within the AE/CAA football:
The statement of institutional direction will set a course of
decision-making for years to come. The document has four major
parts. We first state our key institutional goals:
I. Create a new and distinctive academic direction that
integrates excellent research, teaching and engagement and
positions UB as a thought and education leader around the world.
II. Prepare UB students to become effective leaders in
tomorrow’s world.
III. Strengthen UB’s engagement in the region through
focused and mutually beneficial community partnerships and
efforts to create significant economic development.
IV. Become a top tier AAU public research university.
One of the Student Success Strategy questions asked:
7. Should UB upgrade the Athletics Program to a peer public AAU
competitive level?
(Goals II, III, and IV)
 Implement a funding and capital master plan for
Athletics that would involve at least the following elements:
o Upgrades to existing stadium and other facilities.
o Increases in grant-in-aid funding
o Increases in operations support-equipment, travel, coach
contract costs, etc…
