great research on Doakes. I am sure Coach P will not put up
with any BS, and he probably told Doakes the same thing. Its up
to Doakes to hold up his end of the deal and getting a second
chance.

"Breaking team rules" could mean anything. He might have showed
up late to a practice because he overslept. But I agree...Priore
and Fiore will put up with NO sh*t.

Remember that Coker was also suspended for his bowl game, and
he's been nothing but a class act since coming to SBU. I have
faith that Priore and co. will keep him in line, and I don't
doubt that he knows this is his "last chance".
On a related note, thinking about it, there has been very few
"guys requiring major disciplinary action" at SBU football. I
can only think of two over the past 5 years, and that is
significantly less than most programs of the programs out there
(2 of 150 is really good for society, let alone a football
team). I think that really reflects well on Priore's recruiting
and style.

Yeah Hammer, in a lot of ways summer is the best time of year
and it always goes by too quickly (especially as you get
older)...but there's SBU and CAA football awaiting us this fall,
and that's some nice consolation.

What was everyone's take on the wide receiver play during the
spring? Honestly for me that's the only position I'm worried
about heading into the fall. Otherwise I think this team is
stacked.

I agree with you 100% SBUFAN. Coxson has been a big
disappointment so far, and Eugene didn't show much at the spring
game. I'm guseeing the plan is to depend more heavily on
receiving by the RBs and TE position this year. Will Tye looks
like a good one. But, maybe before too many games go by Priore
might even give Pinoch a shot, even though he is only a
freshman.

sbugold... I undersrtand your concern with the WR position ...I
too thought the Offense got an F with that.. Eugene looked real
bad in spring practices but hey, you never know come game
time... Maybe we get lucky and recruit another 4 star FBS
transfer dropout from Alabama or Clemson.... .LOL !! keep
throwing them our way FBS schools !!

We have talent on the roster at wide receiver, we just have to
wait and see how it works out. I told you guy's that Eugene's
High School coach told me that he was a better def back than WR.
RS Fresh wr's Nick Vitale and Nick Wagner will compete for the
slot job. Eugene and Coxsen will get first look at the split end
job but do not be surprised if someone else emerges. I know
everyone gets excited about transfers, but there is always a
reason why they transfer. I would always worry about a
transfer's lack of playing time at the former school. Eugene for
instance only has exp at the juco level, he didn't play much at
Temple. What I am saying is you do not build a program by
throwing in transfers at every position, you build one by
quality recruiting. Transfers really help with depth, a guy like
Coker is a special circumstance, not every transfer will show up
with his resume. This year's recruiting class will feature 31
newcomers, whether on scholarship or walk-on status, that's how
programs are built.

I agree Chrissy, but I do think these look better than your
typical FBS transfers. Doakes started the last four games for
Pitt including their overtime loss to Notre Dame. Johnson was a
starter as a sophomore at Cincinatti. Priore isn't bringing in
FBS scrubs. That said I love to see a guy like Christian Ricard
(who I think walked on as a freshman) beat out Dan Mulrooney,
the highly touted BC transfer, for playing time at Rover last
year.
