Vote for whoever you think is most likely to have a breakout
year.

I think Bracey is going to be big for Stony Brook this year. He
will definitely will be someone to look forward to.

I agree, and voted for Bracey as well. However, there are a
couple players that could "breakout" as well:
- Eric McAlister, although I don't see him starting, should have
a big year. He has all the tools, and being a redshirt Soph.,
should be more mature and able to seize the opportunity.
- Lenny Hayes is ready to be a big-time scorer with the addition
of Bracey. If teams have to focus on the scoring of Bracey,
Hayes (and Dougher, for that matter) should see a lot of open
jumpers from 3-point range.
The Stony Brook backcourt may be the best 3-point shooting combo
in the league this year, especially if Dougher takes better
shots. I think the addition of a "scorer" will help Dougher and
Hayes get easier shot opportunities, as well as allow more room
inside for the bigs.

Yeah I was between Hayes and Bracey but voted for Bracey. Hayes
was definitely the break out player last year but I think he
could take another step forward and possibly be 15+ ppg type
player. I think McAlister just lacks confidence. I said it on
another thread but I'm convinced that at some point it will just
click and he'll be one of the best bigs in the conference.
Quick, did you see either any of the New Jersey kids while they
were in high school (Dougher, Hayes, McAlister)? I would be
interested in hearing what you thought of them back them.

winnable game if everyone stays focused -no mental lapses.

I didn't see any of those players in high school, although I had
heard of McAlister and Hayes specifically. Some thought
McAlister had the most potential, and had the biggest upside of
the 3. Dougher's lack of speed/athleticism probably kept him
from being more highly touted. Nice to see him have such a good
career despite that. I also heard that Hayes and Puriefoy
played for the same AAU coach, for whatever that's worth.....

Hopefully it means we have a little on the inside track with his
choice of a team to play for.

I would doubt that it would make a difference, but who knows.
Probably more important that the official visit goes well this
weekend....who else is being looked at besides those already
listed on this site for the last 2 scholarships?

I listed some names that I've seen mention Stony Brook without
offers under the 2012 recruit thread. I think the focus at this
point is on Puriefoy and Cousins, but obviously I'm just
guessing.

Look forward to info on how his visit goes, as well as if there
are any others up there this weekend. Great time of year as the
decisions are being made; this one is big for Stony Brook moving
forward. Pairing a dynamic PG with Warney/Burnett and one other
is key with BU and UVM having good 2012 classes (although UVM
needs a PG too!)
