We stayed until the final buzzer. Brenton had an off night
but everyone was on fire. Really an amazing game.

insight into the workings of the BB program than I do. Over the
course of the season there have always been the group of
presumed red shirts sitting at the end of the bench in their red
hoodies at every game (i.e. Burnett, Walker, and most recently,
Kam Mitchell). But, at the Vermont game I noticed that there
were five "hoodied" guys sitting there. Do any of you know whom
the other two were, or why they were there? If not, please keep
your eyes peeled during the UMBC game to see if they appear
again--I'm curious.

You likely saw a few of the ball boys. They wear the same
warm-ups as the redshirts.

Here is a pic of the 4 Redshirt Freshman sitting on the bench
waiting for the game to begin. My cell phone takes terrible
pictures so I'm not sure if we can make who who is who but
Mitchell is one of them.!!

I now have convincing evidence why Pikiell is the Coach and I'm
not!!! Last night for the first 9 minutes or so of the game the
Seawolves are struggling a little, and who does Coach put in the
game to straighten things out?--- Ron Bracey, a guy that after
the first few games of the season you would have hardly noticed
was in the arena, let alone on the roster!! But what happens?
Suddenly the guy is a superstar in every phase of the game, and
I believe lit the fuse in every skill category to turn the game
around! Coach, you're a genius!!!

Pikiell is also a good story for the quick-firing ADs these
days. In ANY sport.
Youve got to be patient, let a coach get their feet wet, bring
in their guys, install their system, and give them time. NCAA
teams are following the pros in expecting instant results. And
it results in good coaches getting fired.

Outstanding point. Need a couple of breaks along the way as
well...the class of Dougher/Brenton/Joyner/Carter turned the
whole program around. Not only did they get good players, but in
Bryan and Tommy in particular they also got two tough kids and
leaders...who from day 1 made it known they didn't come to SBU
to be part of one of the worst D1 teams in the country. So great
job by Pikiell and Young, kudos to Fiore for giving them
time...and some good fortune.

Albany might go L-W-L in the remaining three games.. and
Hartford might go W-W-L rest of the way. In that case they would
be both tied with 9-7 record at 3rd and 4th seeds. Who will be
at 3rd seed? Is it head to head record (Albany won both)? Over
all record?

It's head to head first, then they look at the best record
against the #1 seed, then #2, and so on down the line. If
Hartford and Albany tie, Albany wins the #3 seed because they
swept the Hawks.
And I totally agree with wanting to avoid Albany at SEFCU

The Chairman is spot on. A head coach needs 3 recruiting
classes to have a good chance at turning a program around unless
the talent is already there. The talent at SB in 2005 was D2.
Compare Mike Popko to Tommy Brenton.
A coach really needs to be given 4 years because he really can't
recruit much before his first year. The quality recruits at all
levels are mostly gone.
I am surprised some Major has not tried to hire Pikiell or maybe
I just don't know about it.

Fair or unfair the measuring stick for coaches looking to move
up is have taken your team to the NCAA's. Until that happens
there is definitely a stigma attached to a coach.
