I knew we were the Patriots before Seawolves, but never knew we
       were the Warriors first.

I believe SBU athletes were first known as the WARRIORS, then
the SOUNDMEN, then the PATRIOTS, and finally the SEAWOLVES

They were Baymen prior to the college being relocated to Stony
Brook. Previously it was located in Oyster Bay so that might
       explain the name:
"During the early 1950's, when the Stony Brook campus was
located in Oyster Bay, the University's teams were known as the
Soundmen or Baymen. From 1960 through 1966, we competed as the
Warriors. We became the Stony Brook Patriots/Lady Patriots in
1966, and held that name for nearly 30 years. In 1994, in an
effort to create an exciting new team identity in line with our
move to the Division I level, then-Stony Brook President Dr.
John H. Marburger III proclaimed a new team nickname: the
Seawolves. The Seawolf is a mythical sea creature of the Tlingit
tribe, said to bring good luck to all those fortunate enough to
       see it."

I made the wiki fix to add the warriors info...

I was a Patriot in 90-91. No logo just a slanted USB on a white
       helmet.

Chris. Anything new with FSU Tye??? I really can't find any
stats on him for 2012 season. Could it be he was injured for
most of the season?. Coker came over to us for obvious reasons
and I tried looking for that on Tye as well but nothing ..... I
would like to know the real reason why he left FSU, not that it
really matters to us but it's good to get a little insight on
       someones pedigree !!!
