Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook Athletics has announced a
multi-year agreement with PMI College (PMI) and Madison Sports
Partnerships (MSP) for the development of multimedia sponsorship
rights to accelerate broad-based financial support for its
       fast-rising athletic programs.
Through this comprehensive multi-year partnership, PMI and MSP
will represent all of Stony Brook University’s 20 men’s and
women’s athletic programs in arranging multimedia sponsorship
and naming rights opportunities with interested businesses and
media institutions. The agreement also covers all of the
university’s venues and facilities, including the new basketball
arena, which will open in 2014.
“Stony Brook’s proud partnership with PMI College and Madison
Sports Partnerships will facilitate financial progress with this
university’s increasingly successful athletic department,” said
Stony Brook University Director of Athletics Jim Fiore. “With
our success on the field and in the classroom, our prestigious
membership with the Association of American Universities and our
proximity to New York City, Stony Brook Athletics is an
attractive brand for any corporate sponsor.”
Working alongside the university’s athletics department
personnel, PMI and MSP will assist in launching the school’s
multimedia marketing, sales, events management, and
communications activities. These efforts will include
sponsorship and naming rights opportunities through television
and radio content, programming and advertising, coaches' shows,
stadium and in-venue signage, in- game promotions, pre-game and
post-game events, official athletic website advertising, social
media activity, mobile and tablet integration, coach and
player-alumni endorsements, new technology, athletic media
coverage, print publications, premium seating, hospitality, and
       tickets.
“Through their efforts, Stony Brook’s athletics program has
built great momentum and now represents a very compelling and
valuable opportunity for corporate sponsors and multimedia
partners,” said Mary Lee Gilliland, MSP’s president. “We’re
looking forward to helping Stony Brook continue making
substantial strides locally and regionally through our
       comprehensive collegiate marketing platform.”
As part of the agreement, Stony Brook University also renewed
its ticket sales partnership with PMI in a multi-year agreement.
“We’re excited to add corporate partnership sales to our
existing outbound ticket sales services partnership with Stony
Brook Athletics,” said Mark Washo, managing partner of PMI
College. “Stony Brook has an athletics program on the rise, and
we look forward to helping the school capitalize on all of its
teams’ success to maximize its athletic revenue.”
Businesses interested in discussing naming rights and
sponsorship opportunities with Stony Brook University should
contact Mary Lee Gilliland or Mark Washo.

WOW, sounds great !!!! I've been pounding the table for 2 years
about the Marketing issue with S/B, Now with MSP and the
continuation of PNI We can build and much stronger brand and
really get national attention. Looks like S/B has reached an
turning point as a whole and will only get stronger. This
University will be the 800 pound Gorilla in NYS !!!! Don't bet
       against it !!!!!!!

Funny you mention that. When we went to the playoffs for the
first time Dr Stanley addressed the team. He called them "Long
Islands Team" in a video . That never really got pushed after
that. That would be a great way to start . Brand it with
       football-

I'll settle for "Long Island's College Sport team" as we are
direct competitors to Hofstra/St.Johns/Long Island U for the
market... New York is too big to try to target the whole state
and with Rutgers in the Big Ten is going to get even harder to
get a hold of the region. with the 7 million Long Island market
we have more than enough. Syracuse is trying to target New York
City but their main region is always going to be the
Syracuse/Western NY area and I find that ad campaign really
       stupid...

       Agree.
I think we have the potential to be the best in Long
Island+Queens+Brooklyn... having football is a big advantage
       over Hofstra and St. Johns.
