2012/13: Game 18 - SBU @ Vermont - ESPNU

Probably the biggest game of the conference year... Stony Brook
travels up to Burlington for a big test. This is a huge game. So
excited. Last time we went up there it didn't go too well but
with the team we have seem the last couple of games I'm
confident enough to say that we can roll over the Catamounts.
Seawolves by 7!
Game will be on National TV once again. The ESPNU at 7PM.
Primetime College basketball. Does it get any better. Lets go
Seawolves

Agreed... big Big BIG game! Real test. I am still not sure about
the "roll over" though. UVM is a tough team...perennial AE
contender. I would be happy with any win, impressive or ugly :)

Hahaha. I'm a fan so I can say such things...but I hope our
players don't believe that and come out prepared. That's gonna
be a Harrrd game. But if they play as consistent as they have
the past couple of games then they can get the win!

I love it. SB fans growing in droves. Because we are doing
well.
Many of us here remember the old days. When fans were scarce.
Even during a good year.
GO SB

Winning does that my friend. I admit, I never went to see the
Seawolves play basketball or football (except a few soccer
games) when I was at SBU (graduated '06). I would go to MSG to
see the Knicks, but never heard of any Seawolves
news/fanfare/hype on campus (I used to work in the central
reading room part time on Saturdays! and was on campus most
weekends studying engineering). I have been reconnecting with
SBU over last one year! I am sure there are many sports fans
amongst SBU alums who never had a successful team to cheer for.
I wish SBU was playing like this when I went there (we now have
a marching band...how cool is that?!!!). Still, better late than
never.

I'm dating myself, but when I attended they were the DIII
Patriots! One year they were actually ranked #1 in the nation at
DIII. They had a "big man" (haha, only 6'5") named Earl Keith
who led the nation in FG%....a Jameel Warney-type player.
Speaking of whom, Warney has more blocked shots than fouls
committed. That's an outstanding stat for a big man.

I also remember the D 3 days. As an undergrad I took the student
bus to Augustana College in Illinois when the then Patriots
played in the Division 3 Final 4. I lived in the same building
in Kelly Quad as some of the team and we became friends. Great
times then and as a long time supporter ( even in the lean years
) it is great to see the rise of the entire dept. As to Friday,
we have had little success there over the years. I think this
year's team is certainly capable of going to Burlington and
winning, but I do not expect an easy game by any means. The Cats
and their crowd know the significance of this game and we should
expect to get their best shot.

Seawolf80, we must have been Kelly neighbors. I lived in Kelly
A, and knew players Wayne Wright and Larry Tillery who also
lived in Kelly.
