Rumors on other boards say Bryant may be invited to join the
America East after BU officially leaves. They are a strong
private school academically and good in lacrosse and hoops .
They are in the middle of the AE footprint in Rhode Island. So
maybe we will see them make a move. I would support a move to
the MAC and join our sister school UB someday. The MAC has
good size state schools and plays FBS footbaal. I think we
would get Buffalo's support in such a move.

That would be great if true. On AE board, they are saying that
Merrimack is planning to move from D2 to D1 and join AE.

A lot of speculation on CAAzone.. Many wants CAA to add Davidson
and Stony Brook for all sports and stop at total 12 members and
create north south division. Davidson, although decided against
joining CAA last year, would be interested now because of CofC's
decision and because App U and Georgia Southern might move to
Sunbelt leaving SoCon depleted!
South
Davidson
UNCW
CoC
W&M
GMU
JMU
North
Stony Brook
Hofstra
Drexel
Delaware
NE
Towson
(16 games, 10 against own division and 6 against other
division).
I actually find that very attractive if there is no more bolting
towards A-10 (Looking at GMU) or towards FBS (looking at JMU).
That's actually better than AE and should have at least 2 bid to
tourney, may be even 3!
One thing though, I really hope we win at least one AE tourney
before moving anywhere. Just so that I can say YES we won the
whole thing in AE.

Just a note on Bryant on moving to the AE and leaving their
football in the NEC. Monmouth got slammed by the NEC since the
Hawks moved to the MAAC. Barred from NEC in football making
them an independent this season. So I dont see Bryant coming
over until they find a home for their football program. Tough
situation for Monmouth Football.

Yes.. I read that too. This makes Bryant's decision really
difficult (and probably CCSU if AE wants them). Does it make a
program like NJIT more attractive? I dont really fancy them
much. They dont really add anything in terms of other sports! No
LAX.

Apparently U Mass Lowell will be announced as a member of
America East tomorrow!! (Word on AE forum) I think its a great
addition. They have a nice arena called Tsongas center. And 4
hours bus trip. Hope Bryant is next!

I like it. They fit the type of institution AE wants. Besides
what other D1 options are there? Bryant cant move without a
place for their football. Same problem with CCSU. NJIT not
better than Lowell IMO.

yeah we have little options so Lowell sounds like the logical
move but I would've like sitting with eight a bit longer and
explore any possible D1 members that may arise in the future...

I agree, but that is assuming we will be in AE for a long time.
Although I think our AD is committed to AE, other AE members
might not think that way. AE made this move with especially SBU
in mind, more as a precaution for future stability, thinking
that we might bolt to CAA all sports if all the cards are right
and CAA is still attractive. I don't blame other AE members
thinking that way. SBU is a very attractive institution right
now, doing well in all sports, in a large metro area, and
academically excellent.
