So i went over to Newsday on the web and when the page came up,
i saw headlines and photos of Hofstra men's bball, and i was
thinking dammit, why shouldnt we be getting the headlines. Then
i read further:

Lets not have any hofstra-specific threads here please! I'll
rename the name of the thread to "NCAA Basketball news, Reports,
discussion" and move it to the General Discussion forum if
that's fine with you Chair?! :)
It sucks to see how Hofstra is falling apart. But I also hate
them for not scheduling games with SBU... it could've been a
great rivalry but the lack of vision by Hofstra Administrators
killed it.

The only reason I said that is because I don't wanna have
anything related to Hofstra on our board. LOL. But I'm not the
president of this either so if you wanna leave it, its all good.

Not a good situation for them.
I'm hoping this doesn't give the administration a reason to pull
the plug on their program (by that, I mean administratively
reduce it into oblivion).
I'm totally speculating, but do you think that in the next 10
years, they transition to DII? Right now, they're not investing
into their athletics, and their "flagship sports" (Basketball,
Lacrosse, and Wrestling) are not doing well.
It's a shame, too. This could have been a great rivalry. I
know a lot of Hofstra faculty/alumni, and they are seriously
unhappy about the situation. And that was before this news
broke.
On a side note, completely unrelated, think they've got any
All-American athletes they want to send our way... it's worked
out pretty good for us so far...

That's right Jag, Hofstra's losses will be our gains. We'll sign
even more of the area's top athletes.

They are struggling and this basketball scandal will set them
back several years. Not complaining though we reap any benefits.
