Stony Brook collapses and falls against Sacred Heart. FML. I
can't believe this. Once again we fall against SHU. WTF!

This was a loss that was totally deserved. The three biggest
errors...
Went 18-29 (62%) from the FT line.
Put Bracey on Montez for a bulk of the game.
Ridiculously poor play selection.
When defending the only real offensive option on the court, not
sure why you'd put your worst defender on him. Brenton, Coley,
or Hayes all would've been MUCH better options. Anybody but
Bracey would've been SOMEWHAT better.
The last 10 minutes of the game, Sacred Hearts C (#5) had 4
fouls. We never put the ball into the paint once. It was
insanely poor planning.
And I'm starting to get tired of seeing the same game script...
1. Jump out to a 10pt lead.
2. Pull all the starters, put in 5 new dudes.
3. Watch as opponent catches up in a 3 minute stretch.
4. Put starters back in.
5. Get lead back.
5. Stop running the offense you've used all game, start running
the "SBU Awful" offense.
6. Lose the game (or win by the hair on our ass).
"SBU Awful" is when you let the shot clock get down to 12 before
you even look at doing something, rotate the ball a bunch, and
chuck a desperate 3 with 2 seconds on the clock. It's almost
like we know that our standard offense works, but it's not as
fun if we just score a bunch, so we should just go back to
wasting the clock. If Pikiell could have Coley take a knee, I
think he would...

Very discouraging performance today. The unholy triumvirate of
poor foul shooting, lack of offensive execution and the
inability to get stops down the stretch reared it's ugly head.
The team usually closes the door defensively so I think today
was the exception, not the rule. However, the foul shooting and
offensive execution are a disturbing trend. I expect both to
improve as the season progresses, but still is a bit disturbing.
I am as big a Tommy Brenton fan as anyone, but he needs to score
more. 2 points ( unless I missed a couple somewhere ) will just
not get it done.

Far bigger setback for SB sports than was football's loss to
Liberty. The Liberty loss was only a disappointment because of
how good football played all season long. There's no excusing
this loss to Sacred Heart. Now I expect the Connecticut game to
be very ugly.

Another oddity was using Brenton to bring the ball up the court
late in the second half. I love him as a player, but I don't
like him in a PG role. Just not beneficial.
