Agree 100%. It seems obvious that he wants to be sure the team
is battle-tested by the time the AE season rolls around. UConn
is fairly early, but all the other really tough games are at the
end. 5 straight road games to end the non-conference schedule
should have them ready.....if you plan on playing young players,
this is how you probably set your schedule. No better way to
start than with a home game vs. an easy opponent. Considering
the 1st D1 game is on national tv, probably a good idea....

       Very good article for someone like me who doesn't know Brenton;
seems to be a nice young man. I was interested in his comments
on scoring more this season. In my opinion, he MUST take the 15
foot jumper, and also look to score off the bounce. The more
aggressive he is, the more it will open up scoring opportunities
for the other players, but he is still your best offensive
rebounder, so he can't forget that aspect of his game. Last
year was probably the "bounce back" year for him, but if you are
to contend for the title, he must be somewhere near a
double-double every game....on an unrelated note, I saw this on
       the internet:

Quick, I agree completely wrt Brenton. I often wondered why he
routinely passed up 15-20 ft. shots. A 6'5" player at the D1
level needs to take and make those.

       I don't think there's any reason Brenton can't be a 10+ points
       per game player this season.

According Pikiell Stony Brook's most improved player is "by far
       Ron Bracey without a doubt."

If Bracey has a strong season we are in good shape scoring
. He looks more like a linabacker than a basketball player.
Hopefully he has both an good inside and outside shot.

The pre-season predictions keep coming out. Most of the media
outlets really don't pay a lot of attention to the mid-major
       conferences....
