Browns claim two off waivers, place Hardesty on injured reserve
in a flurry of roster moves
Posted by Josh Alper on August 27, 2013, 5:45 PM EDT
APThe Browns placed their second running back on injured reserve
in two days on Tuesday when they announced that Montario
Hardesty would not play at all this season.
Hardesty had arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this month, a
procedure that came on the heels of a dislocated thumb and a
hamstring injury that had dropped him down the depth chart
behind Dion Lewis. Lewis is on injured reserve right alongside
him after fracturing his leg.
That was one of the moves the Browns made on Tuesday to get down
to the 75-man limit. They actually dropped even lower, but
claimed a couple of players off waivers to bump their total back
up. They claimed punter Colton Schmidt, who was with the 49ers,
and linebacker Paul Hazel, formerly of the Jaguars, to round out
the roster for the rest of the week. Neither player figures to
do much more than that, however.
The Browns moved offensive lineman Chris Faulk to the
reserve/non-football injury list and released linebacker
Kendrick Adams, offensive lineman Dominic Alford, wide receiver
Dominique Croom, defensive lineman Nicolas Jean-Baptiste,
fullback Owen Marecic, offensive lineman Ryan Miller and tight
end Travis Tannahill to complete their transactions for the day.

I really can't stand these so called experts. First off we all
saw Villanova last year and I for one was not impressed. These
guy just do not get the whole picture. SB is not some start up
program that's just happy to be there, we are coming to win. I
agree that you have to bring your A game every week, but isn't
that true with all conferences. This team has legit players on
it and I for one do not see any adjustment period for them. The
multiple FBS gms they have played along with the four playoff
gms they have played the last couple of years should tell
everyone that they will be ready to go from the start. Does
anyone really think that these stud FBS transfers that we got
are going to be the slightest bit intimidated by playing CAA
teams, gimme a break. Just ask Sam Houston St., Army, and the
Cuse if SB was intimidated or not ready to play. I just do not
care for these clowns that call themselves experts judging
things based on bias and not the true facts. Like every team
they need to play well every week, but I am tired of hearing
about these so called growing pains that they will endure by
joining the vaunted CAA. Again we already beat their preseason
#1 in a playoff gm less than a year ago. Enough said.

I think the big question mark for our team this year will be the
QB play. I am sure that this is why the pollsters have us where
they do in the polls. Negron is "promising", not proven. until
he makes it through those first couple of games successfully,
people will not respect us. clearly we have the RB to carry
the load, we have FBS transfers at WR and TE. our D will be
very stout. so all that's left if for Negron to show that he
can dish the ball around to the receivers as needed.

I saw Bamiro play last night. It was certainly good to see him
on the field for what seemed to be the entire game!! I think it
was a mixed bag for Big Mike, as he seemed to be a challenged a
bit to keep the Jets' LT out of the backfield. But, he did do a
fairly good job on other plays, and for the most part IMO
managed to offer some decent pass protection for the QBs. I
think I even saw him fall on a fumbled loose ball in the fourth
quarter!!
My take, unbiased of course, is that he deserves to make the
roster!!

I wasn't able to see the game. But, I checked the Cleveland box
score this A.M., and was disappointed to see that Maysonet once
again got no rushing attempts--BUMMER!! I saw that he caught
ONE pass for ONE yard!! I guess I can only conclude that making
the team is almost impossible now. It's a shame; I don't think
the Browns ever gave him a fair shot.
I think the only option now is for Miguel to catch on with yet
another team after the cuts are made. I believe that he Giants
just lost Brown for the season. Wouldn't that opportunity be
nice?

I think the Browns didn't play Miguel because he will either be
on the PS or let go. Tomorrow is the dead line for the 53 man
Roster so here we go !!

It could go a few ways with Miguel
1) He didn't play well and will be let go
2) Cook, who took the majority of the carries was just picked up
last week. Maybe the Browns knew what they had in Miguel and
wanted to see what Cook had
3) Maybe the Browns really like Miguel and want to put him on
the PS, but didn't want other team to have NFL tape on him...who
knows
Hopefully with all these injuries out there he finds a job.

Willie, I tend to agree with your latter two options. if the
browns were going to cut Miguel, they would have done it this
week, prior to the game. I think they will keep him on in some
capacity. hardly anyone ran the ball for the browns last night,
so if that was their game plan, I'm not surprised that Miguel
did not get any carries.
