The first that I heard of this rule was last year and it
applied to Andrew Luck. He could not compete in ota's with Indy
until he walked at graduation with Stanford. I have no idea what
this rule is meant for all I know is that it was put in during
the lock out.

If Miguel packs on another 5 to 10 pounds of muscle and
practices receiving the ball out of the back field, then I think
he has a real strong possibility of being a starter in the NFL..
....... SB Football relies heavily on their running game but not
on throwing the ball to the RB on a Fake play.. I've noticed
from doing a lot of research on NFL teams, this is what they
look for in a RB.. Had SB played more of this style of Football,
there is no doubt Miguel would have been drafted, probably in
the 5th or 6th round..
I really hope Priore is paying attention to what the NFL teams
are looking for with college players otherwise really good
potential athletes will never have the ability to make it to the
next level. The coaches at SB needs to change their style of
playing to better fit the NFL needs......... My opinion !!!!!!!

I'm pretty sure Priore cares about winning college football
games first and foremost. It's great to have some players with
the talent to make the pros but you can't change your entire
system for a few guys.
If Miguel is talented enough to play in the pros, which I think
he is than he will succeed.

Hammer, from what I've seen of Miguel with his shirt off,
there's no room for more muscle! Actually more lbs would slow
him down, and his speed is already only average.

joewillie. I agree Priore wants to win games first and foremost,
but It is true, the running backs typically just run and not
receive. SB should use their RB more in that style of playing.
It could only help the team not hirt them.

I actually thought they threw it more to Jackolski a few years
ago but he only had 9 catched his senior season.

Hammer, I really agree with your comment about Coach P updating
his offensive schemes. They are very old fashioned, and I'd
dare to say predictable. Maybe they worked in the lower
conferences, but now up in the CAA, I think we are going to have
to show some innovation, especially with the passing game to
keep the offense viable at this higher level of competition.

from Newsday on Maysonet
Miguel Maysonet is claimed off waivers by Cleveland Browns
Although Stony Brook running back Miguel Maysonet went undrafted
and then was waived on Monday after signing with Philadelphia,
his value as a potential NFL player was validated Tuesday when
Cleveland claimed him on waivers. Several teams were interested
in Maysonet, but as the sixth team in the waiver order, the
Browns were the highest to put in a claim.
Agent Joe Linta, who represents Maysonet, said the running back
remained upbeat after being waived so quickly by the Eagles,
whose new coach, Chip Kelly, reportedly disagreed with the
personnel department about Maysonet.
"He didn't get a clear chance,'' Linta said. "But he handled it
like a pro. I was more upset than he was.''
Maysonet, who received a $10,000 signing bonus plus the rookie
minimum of $405,000, will be joining a team that started Trent
Richardson, the third overall draft pick in 2011, at running
back last season and that yesterday re-signed Brandon Jackson, a
starter for Green Bay in 2010.
"You're not going in to be a starter,'' Linta cautioned. "You're
going to compete for a spot on the practice squad. It's a
process.''
New coach Rob Chudzinski brought in former San Diego head coach
Norv Turner as offensive coordinator.
"I think Miguel will fit,'' Stony Brook coach Chuck Priore said
of Turner's system. " . . . I think Cleveland took him with the
intention of giving him an opportunity. That's what you look
for, so, we're excited.''
