Nice article on Maysonet and the Eagles...Hope Chip Kelly likes
him...saw a quote from him today that he thought practice was
"fast". Welcome to the NFL Miguel

It's good to start seeing press like this about our guys a year
       ahead of the next draft.

I figured that since the training camps had started, I'd check
in on how the SBU guys were doing. Here's what I found so far:
--Maysonet at Philly (Good attitude as usual): Let's hope it all
       goes well
  HTML http://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/multimedia/videos/Maysonet-This-Is-My-Opportunity/d95fd58f-fd6a-4b19-896e-5856a39a059e
--Norrell at Buffalo (Not the best start): WR sidelined
"The only player unable to participate Saturday was undrafted WR
Kevin Norrell. He pulled up in practice after a play in 7-on-7
Friday and was held out of the Saturday session." Let's hope
       the Bills will be patient.
--Moore at Green Bay (Looks like there may be some hope):
"For the remaining roster spots we have to be taking a safety.
That spot was supposed to be taken by Erickson but instead it
will either be McMahon or Moore. Hell! it wouldn't surprise me
if we took both. The safey spot looks extremely short in
       numbers."
That all being said, does anyone know if Dominick Reyes has been
able to carve out an opportunity anywhere? If not, it certainly
       is a shame.

WOW.. Between Coker and Poteat we should be just fine in the
running back position again.. I'm starting to feel the love
       again !!

interesting how things just dont work out for some kids at some
schools, ones that sound great to them out of high school. but
for whatever reason, they dont get their shot, fall out of favor
with the coaching staff, etc. and then look elsewhere for a
place to land. Coker is basically the same story as this kid.'
       May 13, 2013
Priore announces addition of Cincinnati transfer Jameel Poteat
Pennsylvania native will have two years of eligibility
Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook head football coach Chuck Priore
has announced the addition of running back Jameel Poteat
(Harrisburg, Pa.). Poteat, a transfer from Cincinnati, has two
years of eligibility remaining and will join the Seawolves for
       summer workouts.

Poteat, who will help the Seawolves offset the graduation of
Miguel Maysonet, will join senior Marcus Coker (Beltsville,
Md.), junior James Kenner (Willingboro, N.J.) and sophomore
Jamie Williams (Hamilton, N.J.) to form another talented
backfield for Stony Brook. The Seawolves have rushed for more
than 3,400 yards in each of the last two seasons.

"We're excited to add Jameel to our team," Priore said. "He's a
very talented player who will have an immediate impact on our
team. He possesses a great combination of speed and toughness
and comes from a great high school in Pennsylvania. I think
he'll enjoy playing in our system."

Poteat played in 21 games over two years with the Bearcats,
seeing time at running back and special teams. As a sophomore,
Poteat rushed for 119 yards and a touchdown. Poteat recorded
career-highs of 10 carries and 55 yards and a touchdown against
       Akron in 2011.

A 2011 graduate of Bishop McDevitt, Poteat was a consensus
four-star recruit and top-100 player. MaxPreps.com listed the
5-10, 207-pound back as the No. 6 running back nationally and
No. 51 player overall. He finished his senior season with 1,724
yards and 31 touchdowns and graduated as the school's all-time
       leader in total touchdowns (84).

BFF.....Poteat is an ESPN 4 star running back. Without even
looking at SB facts, this is most likely SB first 4 star player
ever to play for this school.. This is quite an accomplishment
and something to be proud of.. I would love to know why he is
transferring and did he transfer for all the right reasons !!!!!

This is a huge get for our program ! I think our vetting
process is good enough that we are not risking anything over
the long haul, Coker so far has worked out well so I'm
optimistic . A four star recruit is well a 4 star recruit.

hammer, i get that he is an ESPN four star recruit. just like
Wil Tye was a multi-star recruit when he went to FSU. but now
Wil is at SB. all i was saying is that these big time schools
try to stockpile mult-star recruits, but at the end of the day,
there is only so much playing time in a game to be spread around
to all the running backs. this kid from Cincy could not crack
the starting O at Cincy, and now he is at SB. no knock on him.
he will get carries at SB, and like Maysonet will get chance to
show the NFL what he can do.
and Coker, I would not dismiss him. he was a stud at Iowa,
check out his stats before he transferred. he will start for us
this season. but now we have some depth at RB behind him.

What a classy guy Maysonet is. They put him on the spot when
they asked about SB and he only said positive things about the
       University and his experience there
