Recruits

Here is a website I found that seems to do a decent job keeping
up college baseball commitments.
HTML http://www.perfectgame.org/College/CollegeCommitments.aspx?college=Stony%20Brook&grad=2012
One kid I'd like to know who doesn't have a lot of hype over
there is Jack Parenty. He was the CHSAA player of the year in
2011, the same conference standout freshman Steven Goldstein is
from.

Two of our signees were drafted this week. Third baseman John
Caputo was drafted in the 12 round by Oakland. LHP Daniel Zamora
was drafted in the 27th round by Toronto.
Anyone know the details of the new collective bargaining
agreement and how it might affect these two potentially signing
with their MLB teams?
"A couple months ago, I had no clue I was going to get
drafted," said Zamora, who got news of his being selected via a
surprise call from Amat coach Andy Nieto, which Zamora thought
was a joke at first.
"I guess my hard work in the weight room, on the field and the
hard work the coaches put in toward me paid off. I don't have an
answer for which way I'm leaning (college or pro). Some people
have had a year to prepare for this, I've had like a
month."
As far as I can tell only recruit was drafted, Ryley Maceachern
with 1111 pick. Hopefully he still comes to SBU

We have a few more than that
HTML http://www.perfectgame.org/College/CollegeCommitments.aspx?college=Stony%20Brook
1. Kyle Devin (Lynn MA, Catcher) - #3 ranked player in Mass,
High HM Preseason All American
looks like he was scouted by the Yankees for draft, went
undrafted.
HTML http://riveraveblues.com/2013/04/2013-draft-kyle-devin-85120/
Article comments on throwing strength + batting power, but still
raw player. Maybe he can develop into the next Cantwell?
2. Josh Palacios (Brooklyn NY, Outfielder) - top Brooklyn
player, nephew of former major leaguer Rey Palacios. Another MLB
draft prospect, undrafted though. High HM Preseason All American
HTML http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/high-school/palacios-swing-seawolves-article-1.1224653
More recent article confirms. The above article loves this kid,
and his numbers this season (>.600 BA, amongst others), have my
mouth watering
3. Joe Guercio (Kings Park NY, RHP) - All-County, 2012 League V
Pitcher of Year. Plays football too.
HTML http://kingspark.patch.com/groups/schools/p/kings-park-baseball-standout-signs-letter-of-intent-wcc4f0c129b
4. Ryley MacEachern (Salisbury MA, RHP) - 37th Round Pick by the
Phillies, High HM All American. No evidence that he's signing,
but may be very early to tell. He could be very good, and go
MUCH earlier if he goes to college and gets his fastball speed
up. Hopefully he's thinking similar.
HTML http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=277104
5. Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma NY, SS) - Not a lot of info on him.
Glad to see another local boy at SB though. We lost one from
Ward Melville to U Conn, which was disappointing.
6. Jeremy Giles (Claremont CA, 2B/SS) - Looks like he's a pure
athleticism guy, which bodes very well for his development.
HTML http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=292476
Looks like he was being watched/recruited by a bunch of the
better CA baseball schools
7. Fernando Guerrero (Elizabeth NJ, RHP) - I really like this
guy. Looks like he's a fighter that got a lot of high major
attention, but was underrecruited because of size. ::cough
JANKOWSKI cough::
HTML http://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=239705
Can't wait to see what this kid can do
8. Toby Handly (Whitby, Ontario - Outfield) - Seems like he was
poached very early, Pannucci liked him. I trust him, let's see
what we got
HTML http://www.pointstreaksites.com/view/terriersbaseball/news-room/news_46059
9. Cameron Stone (West Haven CT, 2B) - Top 25 players in CT,
looks like he also pitches extremely well.
HTML http://www.ctpostchronicle.com/articles/2013/05/01/sports/doc515db3449eb77702343459.txt?viewmode=default
10. Conor Doyle (Maspeth NY, RHP) - NY Post named him All-Queens
Player of the Year in 2012 after a fantastic season. However,
looks like he tore his ACL this season
HTML http://www.timesledger.com/stories/2013/19/dozoadamsbase_all_2013_05_10_q.html
Always worries me about instability post-recon, but maybe he can
return to form and we'll have the makings of a very, very good
rotation over the next few seasons.

Sorry I meant that MacEachern was the sbu recruit to get
drafted. not that he was the only recruit. Totally agree about
Geurero. He looks like a steal.

Maceachem has not signed with the Phillies and most picks of
their have signed. The signing period ends July 12.

Hopefully he stays with SBU for a few years. he can only improve
in D-1 baseball.

2 players coming from Cypress JC in California. Look them up on
their site. I think maybe 13-15 players will come in for next
year if I had to guess.

Not sure anyone else noticed this = but Ryley MacEachern is
officially SBU bound. Didn't sign with the Phillies
