I had heard through the grapevine that we committed more
resources to the program. Maybe we did, maybe we didn’t … but it
feels like the former. Keep em coming.

I hope so, too.
I don't know a thing about these guys coming in, but seems like
some solid adds. That said, we all know how tough it is to get a
top 4+ spot in this conference and really be a threat come the
tournament. Even a "good" group likely puts you mid-pack.
My gut says SBU still needs at least another BIG body and some
more dynamo points. Then again, I bet about every team in the
USA needs those things.

I like that we've locked in two real bigs in Ndjonga and now
Vatan. We have been in the red on the glass every year since the
shortened 2020-21 season, so those two plus Valentiny and Gorman
gives us a shot.
Vatan missed all of the Ducks' non-conference schedule with a
foot injury, which prevented him from getting run against lesser
teams. I like that he at least produced somewhere (the U19
Turkish league), but I could see him being a Kojenets type. His
transfer mix was interesting, showing practice footage with some
curious "highlights" ... but he does seem to have some ability
to score inside and also knock down the perimeter shot. We'll
see. I'm hopeful.

Here is a link to a Google Tracking Sheet I made for all CAA
teams as these rosters develop:

Been pretty quiet on the forum during the portal season -- but I
have been keeping an eye on it all. We appear to have tripled
our NIL budget figure of speech). No one knows what it is, of
course ---- but this is the type of apparent financial injection
that can really turn the tide of an entire mid major program.
What a roster we are putting together! Hopefully we can land a
center and some security at PG behind O'Connor with these last
two spots.
What is happening to this program right now is history in the
making. But then there will always be those pesky high
expectations. All pressure turns to Geno to take advantage in
26-27. UNCW and Charleston are really the only rosters that
really worry me vs Stony Brook at this point. But getting a 7
footer to deal with Wessler and Pierce is critical...
Ndjonga and Vatan are going to be so fun. But I don't see they
have a history of guarding the rim well and they seem more like
PF. Well see if they can fill that hole soon...

Thanks for the data, Oakes! Very handy tool. I've noticed that
three names are omitted compared to my understanding. Are Liam
Dagostino, Leon Nahar and Kenny Fields no longer in the picture?

Tripled was just a figure of speech in reaction to what’s
happened. Not a specific figure I know.
There is no one that has said what the exact figure is—
universities keep this number air tight for a reason. I doubt we
will ever get it, and I don’t pretend to know the number. But I
was told by one person in the know about a month ago that our
budget has seen a serious injection compared to previous years
for various reasons. Exactly how much was never disclosed— but I
trust this person.
So I waited to see and…
Now here we are— with a West Virginia, Oregon and Richmond
transfer—all at the same time—that we may never have landed
under prior circumstances. Not to mention our first starting 5
from the MAAC all in the same portal season (tho I think he’s
more of a 4 in CAA). Plus— we aren’t Hampton, NCA&T or
Binghamton who has to clean up the scraps that are left over
from everyone else in the portal (like we were in 2024 with
Octave, Ben Wight and Jucos).
We appear to be trailing only UNCW and Charleston in how
aggressively we are spending compared to the other 10 CAA
programs. Seems like the proof is in the pudding to me
regardless of if they paint their budget # in the public square.

Am I just foggy right now? Who is Kenny Fields? Enlighten me
