       to take! Wide open!!!

I would move on from Geno tomorrow if I could. From my
obstructed-view seat, I just think we could use some new energy.
       It's a solid mid-major job. He hasn't been horrible – four
winning records in the six full seasons, two truly truly
horrific years and a crummy COVID season. I just think it's run
its course and would love to see what somebody else could do.
It's hard though. The portal giveth and taketh away, but more
than anything, it has to make the job so much more difficult.
And the team harder to follow. And with the students, they could
not be more indifferent. The student section was an abomination
yet again, even when the team was surging. Even though it was on
a Thursday night in January, we had fewer than 1900 fans there
for the Hofstra game, which has to be the lowest in series
       history.
We've done the chicken and egg thing before. Winning brings
fans, money brings winning, but if fans bring money – such as a
whale who meaningfully backs the program – SBU just doesn't have
those people coming through campus. They'd rather fund something
groundbreaking across the street, and I think that's outstanding
       too.
I do give the gameday team credit – they took a step forward
this year. And I credit Goldsmith too – she's been at these
games talking up how they need to ramp things up. She's been far
more present and genuine than McInnis. So that's a start.

It's hard to imagine that in the Boals years we would average
3000 regularly during conference season and get those numbers
for schools like Lowell, Hartford, Maine, etc. I've noticed how
emptier the arena looks on broadcasts now even during the
       marquee games.

yeah but wasnt that just riding the wave of someone else's
       success?
wil Ford has piled up winning seasons, i think that means
little. what we need is hot in march. see 2024 and 2016.
with that said- the game has chnaged much since then. and i
think Ford has done a pretty good job of adjusting to the
landscape- bringing in the free agents- Maidoh and Fitz come to
       mind.

I have a feeling its going to be a Hofstra - Monmouth Final.
Hofstra has a good shot at winning it all

As I'm sure we all know, it's a lot easier to not do something
than to do something. The university has a long history of
kicking the same can down the road.

I think we'll have two great games tonight. Campbell has won or
been in every game for more than a month – five point losses to
Charleston, UNCW and Drexel, and a four point loss to
Wilmington. Butka's just a difference maker. That said, I
thought Monmouth was awesome when they were here, and they were
my dark horse for the tournament. I just think they go into this
game with the two best players on the floor in JRT and McClain.
One really interesting stat that I just saw – McClain, who's
just a dynamo, has only taken 13 FTs in the nine games he's
played this year. DJ Smith last nine games: 45 FT attempts. You
guys probably knew it already, but I only just learned that
Campbell took 56 free throws against us. I don't know what our
opponents' record is, but that would have been a high water mark
for us (50 FTA against Army in December 2000).

Hofstra-Towson great matchup so far. 44-44

Freaking Hofstra man... what a stupid, stupid lucky shot.
I don't want to root for Monmouth because they came from the
same entrance class as us and this would mean they beat us to
the punch, but that program has always been good under King Rice
and deserved an at-large in one of those Big South years where
they beat a bunch of power schools.

I absolutely CANNOT root for Monmouth. Sorry guys. But I just
       cant.
That program has given us a whooping far too many times. It
would be painful to see Tiny MonmouthU in the NCAA
