2012 keeps on rolling. Saw this today on goseawolves:
first-ever Division I at-large bid in any sport.
Another big milestone. Of course, i love to argue, and i would
say that lax in 2010, had they not won the AE, couldve gotten in
at large. But thats just argument. This one is fact.
Interesting timing with RU and UMd moving to the Big10.

3VP on the Learfield Cup:
Called the Learfield Sports Directors' Cup, the standings
tally athletic finishes in up to 20 sports (10 men's and 10
women's) each year and after sitting at No. 269 after the
2008-2009 season, SBU has jumped up to No. 68, ahead of names
such as Texas Tech, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, and others.
If we can stay in the Top 100 year after year, that would be an
great accomplishment.

I wander around several boards daily. Always a buzz about SBU -
football , hoops even soccer gets some love. And everyone is
impressed with our facilities.

things are getting exciting. The administrators have a dream and
they are working to make that dream a reality at what IMO is a
very fast pace. We just gotta keep winning. If we keep winning
the donations and state money will flow and things will get even
better. Just gotta win!!!
the fan base is growing at slower pace but its growing. SBU
needs a strategic five-ten year plan to target Long Island as a
whole. I know marketing is expensive, but I would love to see
one or two billboard in I-495 (LIE) and Northern State promoting
Seawolves athletics.
If we make it deep into the playoffs in the FCS this year that
will get a lot of attention from the region.

BTW, Stony Brook football surpassed the 40,000 regular season
attendance this season. It may sound insignificant, but its a
milestone. In 2008 only 18k people watched SBU football.

Albany should not be that far ahead of us. There's nothing about
Albany geographically, academically, or financially that should
attract better coaches and student-athletes there than to Stony
Brook. Yeah, I know it's not that simple, but SBU should be
heading the pack based on what it offers. Next season!

I'm not too worried about this. I don't really care about the
Comissioners cup anyways. If anything the National director's
cup is more relevant and its includes Football in which we
outperformed Albany for the second straight year.

I want success in our four main sports: Football, Basketball,
Lacrosse, and Baseball. Don't really care much after that
