The decline of the CAA has been disappointing. The gap between
the America East and CAA has definitely narrowed to the point of
       almost no recognition now.
The players might be better, but without the possibility of an
at large bid to the tournament I don't see the benefit,
especially if what is widely reported (regarding the lack of any
financial benefit to the university) is true.

It's sad to say that the CAA has essentially become another AE
conference. There is no way to predict these things ahead of
time. The jump seemed wise back then.

An arbitrary look at conferences receiving at-large bids by
       year:
       2000: 12
       2005: 12
       2010: 11
       2015: 9
       2021: 11
       2022: 10
       2023: 9
       2024: 10
       2025: 7
And I don't think the performance of the SEC's 14 teams – or the
highly favorable TV ratings – will deter the committee from
changing course. That puts the CAA in the company of, yes, the
AE but also the A-10, Conference USA, American, Missouri Valley,
etc. It's all about March for just about all of us.
