[quote]As we all know, we sorely need size. Wight did his best
as our 5, but we would have seriously struggled on the glass
without Snoddy. We were small and thin, and when shooting is a
question mark too, that's a lot of rebounds up for grabs. And
now we're smaller and thinner.

hoping for some portal magic. it worked with maidoh, fitz, and
wight.
you can play smallball when you dont miss 20 three pointers a
night.

Frey is somewhat of a surprise. Maybe he wants to go to a better
team in a smaller conference. Lots of options for him I’d think.
I wonder how high Luster lands but best of luck to both of them.

Frey and Luster removed from the above list, leaving us with
five open scholarships. I'm skeptical about Peyton Frey now too.
Luster in particular is a big hit but fully expected. The kid
has a special talent that some program will be happy to have, on
top of a good attitude. I count at least five CAA transfers who
are going to play in the tournament this year, and scores of
others who played better teams in front of bigger crowds.
Geno and the staff have a lot of work to do.

I would expect Frey to downshift to a weaker conference, or
maybe go D2. Not sure any noteworthy team is gonna burn a
scholly on a guy who has a poor track record for staying on the
court, not to mention 34% FG shooting. Not sure why Peyton Frey
would stay after warming the bench for 2 years, and his brother
leaving.
It'll be interesting to see where CJ lands. Top 20 in the
nation in 3-pt shooting %; I venture to say P5 team and $$$$.
Back up the truck.

this isnt the first time we heard the hype about the best
shooter ever in our gym.
it never works out, does it.

I don't see how Stony Brook can compete in this new landscape.
Geno's excuse every year is that the team doesn't have enough
time to "gel." There's a very high possibility we will never
have a talented 4-5 year player again in our uniform.
And Geno's isn't the type of coach that can coach up a bunch of
1 year "free agents."
This might be the beginning of the end for us and this program.
I hope I'm not being too pessimistic but the future of this
program doesn't look good at this point in time.

i was just reading a commentary earlier today about how a
certain conference- doesnt really matter who- sometimes has
their management talking in the shadows about just folding
athletics altogether. and that was BEFORE all this nonsense.
it's simply not the mission of our university system, the story
goes.
now, looks like not just a good idea, but perhaps the only idea.
particularly for the un-established brands.
i guess it'd be different if students actually participated in
fb/bball games. but i argue they largely dont.
