Shows you how tough this league is that Delaware was a 12 seed.
Valiant efforts from the usual suspects. Hoping Collin and CJ
       are back but we'll see.

I’m not sure I entirely understand the valiant effort angle. If
you watched every men’s and women’s tournament game this
weekend, you would probably not find a single team that wasn’t
trying its best all 40 minutes.

Great effort, after the first half, but came up short. Very
unfortunate circumstance with that lane violation. Geno
blundered by not calling a TO after Colin’s 2nd FT make, but
we’re used to these subtle coaching mistakes. CJ will get a bag
in the offseason, and with Colin’s ascension in the 2nd half of
the season, we may see him go by way of free agency; let’s not
       forget he’s an OH kid.

What’s considered the next level, Atlantic 10 Ish? I could see
both Luster and OC fitting nicely at the next level whatever
that is. I wonder what the NIL temptations are.
I imagine OC may take his talents to a mid major in Ohio for
       next year.
If they both somehow stay, I like SBs 4 and 5s next year a lot

It's a fair point. Effort should be a given. But ... three guys
played 40 minutes, after doing so for at least a month; Wight
played a season-high 34; and Sabry played 22 minutes when we
weren't sure whether he would suit up for not (and from what OSW
said, he wouldn't have played tomorrow if we advanced). We got
popped in the mouth in that first half and got back into it. And
we looked like a college team with a semblance of a plan the
last few weeks of the year.
I do agree though. We can't say "we went 8-24, but hey, we
played hard" and leave it at that. I did think Delaware was
going to just keep on rolling, but we competed. Not the end-all,
be-all, but I was glad to see it.
As far as who stays and who goes – not knowing the kid at all –
I feel like the temptation will be too great for Luster. Maybe
he likes it here, but in the last month, he's had days like the
       following from three: 4-9, 5-12, 5-9, 4-9, 7-12, 5-7, 7-12 and
4-7. Shooters like him don't grow on trees. Granted, he's 6-3
and 165 pounds. But if you're a kid from Texas – or a kid from
anywhere – and you can obtain some financial reward for your
services, and play in a better conference somewhere, geez, who
       wouldn't test those waters?

By the way, hats off to Checkmate, for another great year with
game summaries and team insights. Invaluable SBU Basketball
       resource.

Bottom line, very disappointing season. I know you're always
playing politics in this role, but Heilbron's recent messaging
that SBU was just a shot away from the NCAA's last year suggests
to me he feels the pieces are in place. Extension or no
extension (I have no info on that), I think Geno stays and they
run it back next year as is.
Difficult for me to imagine SBU climbing to the top half of the
CAA without a substantive boost in NIL. I just think it's as
simple as that, and yes I realize donations of big money are not
"simple." Is there a sincere, even aggressive, effort to make
that happen? I have no clue.
Regarding the players this season, I hope those who are done or
are moving on have success. As a team they became at least a
likeable group at the very end. Not that anyone beyond our small
community paid any attention, but they generally felt like
underdogs you could root for. Hard to see Collin and CJ coming
       back, which leaves...?
Everyone who participated here on the board this
       season-of-general-despair deserves a standing O. I'll pay
reasonable attention to all that unfolds in March, but mostly my
brain now shifts to warmer weather and baseball. Here's hoping
for good portal outcomes and some sense of excitement come the
       fall.

SBU postgame. Nothing crazy. Geno went one by one touting guys.
Particularly with Luster, he talked about how he'll get even
better with an offseason in the weight room. I hope it's our
weight room. He was awesome for us.
