The whole 5 points in the last 6 mins of the game thing wasn't
good, or all the missed FTs... maybe we took the air out of the
ball a bit too early, and didn't do a good job of getting Luster
open in the end. But those defensive stands were gritty...
       O'Connor's block, Snoddy's rebound...
Not last place! What a cause to celebrate. And Delaware probably
has nothing to play for, with them leaving the CAA this year for
CUSA, so they're likely a better draw in the play-in game than
       Hofstra, who would want revenge.

Two very poised, spirited wins to close out the regular season.
Wow, good for them. You ask me, they beat a better team tonight.
Felt like you could see Gorman gaining confidence as his minutes
grew. His rebound off the missed free throw near the end was so
       clutch.
Game like that makes you think, hmmm, maybe if guys stick around
there could be some pieces in place next year?

I'd be shocked if Luster comes back next year, but who on this
board wouldn't take another year of OC and Luster?
I agree that Gorman has come along big time the past few games.
He seems like a skilled conference level starter. Even Nahar is
       playing with more assertiveness.
Beat Delaware and steal one against W&M...why not?

That was the best game in that arena in a long time. OK, at
least it was the best this year. The crowd was locked in, and
there was even a brief standing O for O'Connor after that
rejection. Textbook block. And some vintage traffic getting out
there, which I hated less because of how long it's been. Good
job by the community coming out for this one, and by the
athletic department for putting on a good show. And hats off to
       the band – always good.
       Some thoughts ...
       - Luster is such a gifted shooter. I appreciated even more today
as he was really poised with the ball and scored from the
mid-range and inside despite being on the shorter side. He puts
miles on the odometer out there. I'd love to know how the last
month has compared to the first few. It's Curry-like in that
he's coming around a myriad of screens and defenses HAVE to pay
close attention. And as I said before, he competes hard on the
defensive end and looks like he's having more fun than anybody
out there. Tonight he might have been playing through something
as he was flexing his wrist after drawing a foul on a drive and
immediately afterward getting plowed by Simpkins on what was a
       clear charge.
       - I began thinking about what his future looks like. Is he an
A-10 guy? Or a bench guy at a power school? Or does he stay
because he's loving it? I'm hopeful but fully aware that money
really really talks. Of the top 25 scorers in conference play
last year, 18 either graduated or transferred. Mullen (9),
       Simpkins (11), Shell (12), Brzovic (14), Dorsey (20), Sinani
       (21) and Lowe (23) stayed around.
       - O'Connor's a prime example of why the boxscores don't tell the
whole story. 4, 3 and 4? On 0 for 7 shooting? Whatever. He
played all 40 minutes, dug his heels in defensively, and had
just two turnovers. He was outstanding.
       - Snoddy is such a Swiss army knife. So many times he was on the
glass (no surprise) but was also the one breaking the press
(with mixed results), defending bigger players (early on it was
Van Komen) and taking on some of the scoring responsibilities.
So so easy to like. I'm glad he hit 1,000 and finished on a high
       at home.
       - Really great effort from Gorman. A career high 21 minutes, a
career high nine points, and he was did not back down from the
older, bigger Sherry. Very promising night.
       - The guys love Nahar. I love that he's carved out a role.
       - I'm happy for the coaches. We've given them flak, but these
were two really nice wins. This skeleton crew of a team is still
       all-in. As you can see.

       - Why teams don’t press us the whole game, or at least more, is
       beyond me.
       - You can't ignore that Elon was shorthanded. Dorn's probably
done for the year – a shame – while TJ Simpkins has a chance to
be back for the CAAs from what I understand. I think losing Dorn
is too much for Elon to overcome, just like Sinani's injury has
more or less sunk Campbell (or they just came back to earth). We
had a chance to see a wide-open tournament, but now it feels
like a three-team race between Towson, UNCW and Charleston. The
only darkhorse I can see is Northeastern simply because of King.
       - Delaware's winnable. The victor gets Campbell, who is reeling
as losers of four straight and five of six. And then a shaky 4
in William & Mary, which went 5-12 away from home and is very
three dependent. They've lost three straight too. It's probably
a pipe dream, but if you wanted to make a run, getting into the
12/13 game gives us the best shot.
       - Let's see how close this is to the results ... Checkmate's
somewhat rushed positionless All-CAA projections: Brzovic (POY),
King, Newby, Tejada and ... I guess Duggan. Bashir's efficiency
numbers were really bad. Then Bashir, Aranguren, Simpkins,
Camden, MaGee for the second team. Third team is Fulton, Dorsey,
Williamson, Boyd and Luster. Pasha edges O'Connor for ROY.

Hard to see us getting 2 accolades as a #13 seed, but certainly
       Snoddy deserves honorable mention.
Except for recent blowouts against Hampton and Northeastern,
this team has gelled. Good thing Octave is done; having him
come back would certainly disrupt recent chemistry. Same can
probably be said for Frey (whose availability is still in
doubt). Hopefully, Sabry is able to give minutes; that would
give us rotation of 8. 5 games in 5 nights; that's a lot of
minutes for the boys. I'll be content with a win over Delaware
       on Friday.

It sucks that All-Conf is so determined by team record, because
Luster certainly deserves First Team especially since teams are
planning specifically to stop him, and he's still doing what
       he's doing.
We've landed upon our optimal rotation. At this point I've
forgotten that Octave was even giving us 13 PPG bc it was so
inefficient and probably garbage time boosted.

Wow great recap, Check. Agree on all fronts. Nahar and Gorman
have turned into fun rotation pieces. We could really use
another guard off the bench to spell O'connor and Luster even if
its 5mpg. Scared if that is Frey he may come in for 10 minutes
and go 0-5 from 3. We will see. Glad we have at least a little
       juice going into the tournament.
