Let's win this freaking game.
Campbell isn't the most athletic or talented group but they
compete like hell on the defensive end. They really smothered
Monmouth on Saturday, outscoring them 54-31 in the second half,
holding them to 3 for 20 from three-point territory. Dorsey
really gave Bashir everything he could handle, limiting him to
14 points on 6 for 23 shooting, this after he'd hit 20-plus in
four of his first five CAA games. Campbell goes 9 or 10 deep,
and that doesn't even include Elijah Walsh and Gediminas
Mokseckas, who were everyday starters a year ago and now barely
play. Their activity has limited their CAA opponents to just 25
percent shooting from three. But they're also shooting 52
percent inside the arc.
It's not a good shooting team either. Sinani made 37 percent of
his threes last year but is under 30 this year. The main threat
is Zurliene, who starred at :: checks notes :: Purdue Northwest
and McKendree before coming to Buies Creek, and provides energy
on the glass and defensively. But he's not really a high volume
guy from out there. The rest are pretty pedestrian.
I suppose Duggan's a little better than that. He's some story.
Last year, he was a fringe kid, averaging three and a half
points a night. The word coming into the season was that he'd
really taken a jump and he sure has, giving them a real nice
inside-outside threat. Duggan started the year on the bench but
forced his way into the first five and hasn't looked back. He
even had 32 in Campbell's valiant effort against North Carolina.
Stat updates that I feel bad about:
Assists: SBU 203, opponents 308
Paint points: SBU 434, opponents 626. We've lost this battle in
16 of 19 Division I games, with one tie.
Now's the time for us to stop this slide, with an ordinary
Campbell team and then fellow cellar dweller A&T coming into our
building. Both have been pounded on the glass and each struggles
to shoot it. And A&T is back to having a really short bench. And
if it doesn't happen now, then we're really looking at
mid-February for our next opportunity. I realize that a single
win is meaningless in the end, but the guys have been playing
hard and could really use a reward for their efforts.

I feel like tonight’s the night. I thought Monday was the night
for A&T and that wasn’t the case – a one point loss – but we’ve
knocked on the door a few times in conference play and I think
we’re due.
Edit: Never mind 🙄

Terrible display and effort. Maybe they can put a dent into the
lead by halftime

it appears that none of our players have ever seen nor prepared
for a 3/4 press.

Campbell just messing with us now. Over the shoulder passes,
nutmegs, layup after layup. Embarrassing.
The difference in degree of difficulty for these two teams'
shots is just gigantic. I have never seen a team routinely take
tough shot after tough shot. And nothing changes. It'll happen
Saturday too. There is undoubtedly a talent gap, but this is on
Geno.
For real, if a fellow winless team comes into our gym on
Saturday and blows us out, is there a possibility that that's
Geno's last game and Rickard finishes out the season? Those odds
are more than zero for sure. This whole thing is an
embarrassment.

we cant even clear the ball. and its not like our forward
players stay back to help out- we just walk into a 2v3 every
time.
we launch hapless shots. forget the distance, you can just tell
by the release these are all hail mary takes.
our defense at times looks like we just arent trying.

To add, just terrible body language from the team...and also
from the decreasing number of fans. I know mine was. Sat slumped
looking at my phone for most of the game, the little screen more
engaging than looking up at the poor performance.
Did love the effort, movement, and spark from Campbell. If I was
the coach for the group of kids from St Patricks who hooped at
half I'd tell them, "Watch how Campbell plays, we want to be
like that."
Really felt like an absolute low point for SBU this season.
Nothing appears to be getting better, in fact just the opposite.

Does Geno survive the night? For real.
That was abominable. We could give Rickard a chance with a plum
matchup (closest thing to anyway) against A&T on Saturday. Maybe
it's an overreaction. It's probably an overreaction. We did just
compete with Towson at their place. But we couldn't look worse,
the players couldn't look more deflated, and we're an
afterthought/punchline locally. And we might not win another
game.

that's 8 straight, falling to 4-16. and i dont even know if
we've hit bottom yet.
i said this two years ago- nothing's going right, the season is
clearly over, the philosophy is not working. isnt this a good
time to try something different? what exactly is the downside?
for example- passing the ball. it just so happens it works for
other teams- particularly when they are playing us. so there's
no excuse that we don't know it exists.
i like Campbell's corner traps- what a novel concept- use the
sideline and halfline as a defender. it works.
kudos to Campbell to run a FC press on the road against last
place SB. who does that?
