       6-9/235 jr C Collin Metcalf 3.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.3 bpg, .533 FG%
We've seen these same guys for a couple years now – King,
Troutman, Woods, Nwagha, etc. It's been a solid, even if
unspectacular, core for Coen. We've seen King really make a
jump, going from 6 points to 10 to now 17 a night in his third
year with the program. I love that he and Woods, both these
powerful, physical guards, have hit the glass with Chris Doherty
finally having come off the books. Northeastern doesn't
necessarily have these towers, but Metcalf gets it done inside
and he gets help from the army of guards on the roster.
Troutman has missed the last two games for Northeastern, both
losses, and they've also been without William Kermoury and, at
least the last time out, Nwagha, who's one of their options
inside. From what I can glean from what's online, there's a
chance Troutman suits up tomorrow, but we'll see. Without him
(and Kermoury, who's out), Northeastern is seriously limited
from the perimeter. That plagued them in their brutal 55-37 loss
to Hofstra last weekend when (without Pratt too) they shot 3 for
25 from three. Pratt did return and they had a second-half lead
at Towson before falling. Take away Troutman and Kermoury's
numbers and they shoot just 28 percent from deep. On the season,
they've only hit double digit threes in one game – Thursday
against Towson, which is probably a one-off. To my surprise,
we're the same – just the 13 threes to beat Rider.
They have the capacity to rebound the heck out of it. They
corraled 22 offensive boards in their win over Delaware, and
while they lack this gian who cleans the glass like a Hargrove
or van Komen from Elon, who we'll see later, you have to give it
to King and Woods for holding it down, each ranking in the top
eight in the CAA in boards. 6-6/205. 6-5/215. Big big wings, a
       sharp contrast to our backcourt.
There are just a lot of ways to beat us right now. Pound it
inside, shoot over us, cut and score, turn us over, get in our
shooters' faces, etc etc. With their edge in physicality and
athleticism as well as their shooting woes (if no Troutman), I
could see us playing a little, some or a lot of zone. Geno has
sprinkled it in but maybe we see it more here. Remember how much
zone we played in the COVID year???
It feels like Northeastern's shooting, facing some junk defense
on the wrong night, could be a fatal flaw. The question is, can
they overcome it? They've shot just under 38 percent on threes
in their wins, against just 28 and change percent in their
losses. Because of that, this one feels a little more in play
       than some others. I don't know how it'll happen but ... let's
see if the boys can get off the schneid.

This is as bad as it gets. Octave shouldn’t see the court in the
2nd half. Looks like he doesn’t care at all

I think being outscored 15-4 in the final 6 minutes of the half
       is a very bad thing.
Luster has been The Guy over Octave for a while now. He can't do
it all alone. How is Wight not getting involved more? He's a
proven double digit scorer in this conference. Draw something up
       for him Geno!

Does Geno ever draw up any plays? Or is it just- go figure it
out and chuck any shot you want? I got the notification that the
game was tied at the 2 minute left mark- wish I didn’t turn it
       on though …

Another 5-minute field goal drought at the end of the game,
right when we took a multi possession lead while Northeastern
looked helpless. How did Geno not learn from the Drexel game?

I thought we were going to go quietly, but without Frey, with
Octave giving us next to nothing, somehow stayed in it and took
a five-point lead at one point. But then Frankel came in and
       steadied the ship for NU.
Hung around, competed, but lost. That's been the chorus the past
few games. Now we go to Delaware and Towson. Not looking good.
Woodard's now 6 for his last 16 from three. I'm still skeptical
       – one of them was banked – but we need him out there as somebody
who's looking for his shot. It can't just be Luster.
No inside knowledge, but I feel like Octave's playing hurt. He
sat out key minutes against Drexel, and then didn't play the
final 15 minutes tonight. There was one time where I feel like
he could have easily tracked down a long rebound in the corner
but instead let it go out of bounds. Very curious all around.
       Hope he's all right.
       Only two months to go.

This team can clearly compete in the conference, and seem to
have just enough on offense to win some games. I suspect given
this exact roster another HC could get 6-8 conference wins.
