       Oof. The old Thursday-Saturday schedule.
You could add three or four more guys to the above – that's how
many guys new coach Brian Earl gets in and how balanced they
       are. I mean, they don't have a single guy who's averaging 25
minutes a night, and only three are averaging 20-plus. And all
this is with Caleb Dorsey missing a good portion of the OOC
       schedule.
Earl has flipped everything upside-down there. Just look at the
pace: In average possession length, they're 17th in America,
this after ranking 299th last year under Dane Fischer. They're
flying up and down the court, sitting 35th nationally a year
after ranking 273rd. For a new coach to come in there and
convince everybody to stay, and on top of that to lessen their
playing time, he has to have that team locked in to what he's
doing. And part of that could be the tempo. Who wouldn't want
the freedom of get up and down like that? It's resulted in 83
       points a game
This is a really veteran group. Collier will body up with Wight
once more; they started 23 games together in 2022-23. In fact,
Wight's suited up with Gabe Dorsey, Lowe, Matteus Case and Miles
Hicks going back to that season, and there's plenty of
experience around them too, with the bigger stronger Dorsey
(Caleb), Boothby coming over from Cornell, Malachi Ndur from
Brown, and Kyle Pulliam (who I don't think we'll see)
transferring in after starring at STAC. We've already been able
to sense the advantage that past experience together gives
       teams.
They demolished Hofstra on Thursday – it was 48-18 at one point,
and this was after Hofstra took a 10-2 lead, so we're talking a
46-8 run in the other team's gym. W&M was content letting
Hofstra fire away from three (37 attempts) and their inability
to make them was the story of the game. That's now losses to
Temple, Quinnipiac and W&M in a short period for Speedy and Co.
Maybe it was just the game of their lives, but for one night
anyway, W&M looked like the superior team for sure, bigger, more
active, defending 94 feet. And to be able to sub freely and
always have five threats on the court is such a blessing.
Among them is a really good freshman in Isaiah Mbeng. We know
his brother Bez well from our tussles with Yale. Mbeng adds some
ability to take guys off the dribble and distribute, which W&M
lacks a little bit otherwise. Lowe can. Also, Earl's a Princeton
guy – played there, was an assistant there, so you'll see a lot
of basket cuts and nifty interior passing. We've been burned by
       them this year.
Offensively, I'm hoping we get some good looks. I'd put Luster's
shooting up against just about anybody we've had if he's open.
Teams are concentrating on making him put it on the floor, where
he's not quite as comfortable and can get swallowed up near the
rim. Threes off screens – sign me up.
I was listening to something today about this beef between
Charles Barkley and JJ Redick – Barkley saying the game stinks,
Redick saying that the game doesn't stink but the narrative is
being pushed by media members, Barkley firing back, etc.
Somewhat related, in spaces like these, I'd like to be
optimistic and truly believe that things will change, but
sometimes, no matter how loud you yell, how hard you practice,
how hard you try, it comes down to whether you have the horses
or you don't. Right now, I think we have an issue with our
horses, and maybe an even bigger issue with our horse trainer.
We're really struggling, and with a shortage on size to protect
the rim and to rebound, on guys can go get us a bucket or knock
one down from deep, or guys who who can really defend on the
perimeter, etc etc – all of which the trainer is responsible
for, before they even show up on campus – our margin for error
is alarmingly minute. It's a chorus we've all sung this season,
and I think it's difficult to dispute.

Is it just because we live in NY or is MLB the 2nd biggest
league again? Seems like NBA has taken a nose dive and MLB has
been really good since the pitch clock. LAD vs NYY helped.

Let’s see if SB can combat this pace and depth. If it’s a race
to 80, that doesn’t favor us.
From Boston: Northeastern 19, Hofstra 18 at the half. 😬

All things considered, I'd say a reasonably solid 40 mins from
       this SBU team.
They're just not that good/WM was just better.
       And so on...

Geno really should have gotten a true PG from the portal, the
number of inbound turnovers can't be okay

it looks like geno can't recruit and here we are. when is the
last time the men went 4-11? We know who the team is by now this
season. 10 wins will be a reach.
