Ok a few points- and i agree with iBO- but also Salty-
I like King right now more than McAlister. I even think Mayo is
a nice complement to Warney. Its a nice luxury that we can
rotate all three at the two forward positions.
Though the game has really moved to a GGG/FF format, i also
agree that we should look into getting a proper center. Think
of what we could do if we have a stud playing down low with
Warney. Who are you going to stop? Teams cant double both of
them all the time.
Years ago, we lost many game for many reasons, but the
rebounding was embarassing, esp on the def side. Now that's
flipped on its ear. Imagine what we could do with just 5 more
offensive reebs per game!
Even though we are bringing in bigtime recruits, when Coley and
Jackson go, i do think those will be tough shoes to fill.

Its harder to recruit a good center than a good guard. Top
schools dont mind taking chances on anyone tall with a
basketball in hand. Thats why mid/lower-mid conferences are left
with 6-8/6-9 centers.

Btw, there are total 13 schollies right? On official site we
have 5 seniors on roster. How many schollies are we offering
next year?
Next year:
Warney, Mayo, McAlister, King, Coley, Jackson, Puriefoy= 7
Add Redshirted: Mitchell, Walker, Reid, Burnett= 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total 11 for next year.... 2 more available.
I am guessing we will probably pick up 5 more and redshirt 3 of
the 5 (because of we have 3 juniors now who will be seniors next
year) to have total 13 for next year.
Committed: Nyama and Braley = 2
Offered: Devonne Pinkard, Malique Trent, Marcus Varner, Rysheen
Dorn, ???, ???.... = 3
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5 commitments total.

Five seniors but Resner isn't on scholarship. Mitchell is
already on campus but he'll be using one of the four
scholarships opening up next year, so there's one more left.

Im totally happy with what I see.

I'd like to see us land a true pf that wants to play with his
back to the basket. Warney's is the only guy on the roster who
wants to play with his back the basket.
That said, I think it's a best available scenario. A stud JUCO
would be great because it would help even out the scholarship
classes. I also wouldn't mind bringing in a transfer that has to
sit out for the year.

Have we ever gotten a transfer? Seems like Boston U, Vermont,
and others make a living out of picking them up. Our last 3
JUCO's have been El-Amin, Al Rapier, and Ron Bracey. Not a
terrible track record. 2 out of 3 ain't bad lol.
This is so dumb of me to say - but when I look at our needs - I
want another Tommy Brenton. Not sure who on the roster is the
"dirty work" guy. Who is the guy that's going to grab boards -
defend the other team's best player. get on the floor?

Totally agree with wanting another Tommy Brenton. Jordan Fuchs
from Christ the King really sounded like that kind of player,
but I guess UConn was looking for a TB-type as well. Nyama
sounds somewhat Brenton-esque. I think I remember reading in the
fall that he was a defense first kind of guy and he looks like
he has the build/athleticism to guard several positions on the
floor.

You don't get a Tommy every day. I think if we get 3/4 of a
Tommy we'll be good. LOL. Our future players are going to have
to be measured on how much of a TB they are...

Two in the past few years. Ricky Lucas from GW came over when
Pikiell was hired. Desmond Adedeji was a dominating inside
presence who transferred from URI. He got injured about a third
through the season though (I think it was 09 or 10)...
