SBU Fan you might be on to something -I hope. Hopefully he
is in the 6'6 or 6'7 range and can help underneath. Maybe a
Brenton type who give us points inside but bigger. When does
the late recruiting season end anyway ?

Well, we finally have an answer re: what Coach Pikiell is doing
with the last available scholly for 2013-2014. RAYSHAUN MCGREW.
Check him out. I'm glad he looks like he could be a bull, and
ready to play since he's coming via the JUCO route. But, I
haven't found any video on him. Anyone have a link?

Pikiell recruited McGrew when he was coming out of high school.
Kid was a beast (played at a strong program in Chicago), but had
concerns (lets be fair, with his size/speed, there had to be a
reason big programs weren't looking). Thats pretty much all I
remember. I think it was the year before these boards started
(so we don't have the chatter to refer back to).
Looking into it a bit, he didnt play in 2011-12, resurfaced last
year at a community college somewhere in Kansas and put on a
pretty good show.
If he can keep his head straight, he could do a lot of damage
with Warney. The real question is what does this mean for
Mayo/McAllister? Or do they redshirt him, give him a chance to
learn the program, and replace McAllister when he graduates?

I know there is a limit on the number of scholarship players
there can be on a squad. But, can someone more familiar with
the NCAA rules than I am tell me if there is a limit on the
total number of active players that are allowed to suit up for a
basketball team, counting both scholarships and walk-ons?

I believe the limit is 13 scholarships but a coach can split
them and make them partials. I don't know if there is a limit
on the total number of players a team can carry.
