More recruiting ramblings ...
If we think we have it bad, I think about conferences like the
NEC and then Division IIs. If they get anybody good, they have
to know that the buzzards are swirling above and that they'll
soon be backfilling.
We did well getting Snoddy to come home from CCSU. I noticed
that the NEC has a lot of size in the portal right now, and guys
who could play a role here for sure.
Todd Brogna, 6-7/225 from Stonehill, averaged 13 and 6 and
knocked down almost 40 percent of his threes. Data science
major.
Keyontae Lewis, 6-9/260 from Wagner, averaged 6 and 5 in
starting just about every game
Valentino Pinedo, 6-8/230 from St. Francis, averaged 10 and 6.
Biology major.
Dwayne Koroma, 6-8/205 from Le Moyne, averaged 12 and 7, shot 71
percent from the field
Ocypher Owens, 6-8/215 from Le Moyne, averaged 9 and 6 and close
to a block a game
That's three of the top four rebounders in the conference, one
of the league's better shot blockers, and Lewis competes and
takes up space. And in the neighborhood of our academic profile
is the Patriot League. Milos and Veljko Ilic, both 6-10/230 from
Loyola (MD), combined to average 23 and 13 and both shot over 50
percent.
Realistically, I'm wondering if we should be looking at power
conference teams' worst players, or low to mid major teams' best
players (i.e. Clarke, Octave, Snoddy, Noll, Jenkins). My sense
is it's going to be more of the latter.
I would keep an eye on Monroe too.

Reported that the Seawolves have signed Ethan Simmon (SG/F) out
of New Haven. Loves to have some moves and speed.

Simmon mix:

12 and 4 for them, decent shooter (albeit a little hitchy),
looks like he wants to get to the hoop too.
Hofstra went and got a kid from Pace in the same mold today.
Feels like the D-II pathway’s going to become commonplace at our
level.

Reported that SBU has offered Jordan Hamilton (SIUE transfer;
seems short on statistics) and Fredy Salam-Sylla (Eastern
Florida State College; looks like a really quick driver). Any
thoughts?

Just wondering who reported about Jordan ? I’m only asking
because I know we offered him last year. I also seen someone
write we offered Mutlib (could have spelled that wrong) and
again we offered him last year but not this year. Just curious
if whoever is reporting this is reporting offers based off last
year ?

Both were reflected on the Verbal Commits website.

Jake Lieberman – pretty reliable as far as I know – posted on
Twitter in February that we made an offer to Hamilton. However,
Hamilton recently retweeted a post that stated that he'd heard
from a dozen or so schools, none of which was Stony Brook.

Hard to determine what's accurate and what's not. But, maybe
we'll be presently surprised. In addition, SBU's latest offer
is reported as Christian Harmon out of Gulf Coast State College
(JUCO). His stats look impressive, but I haven't seen much
video.

This is all I saw on Harmon. Looks pretty good but it's a
highlight reel.
