it said that after the 2012 football season we were invited to

with all the insiders here- how did that not get shared here for
12 years? or did i miss/forget it?

I think I did mention that here year’s ago. I knew Jim Fiore
personally. His son played RB with my son at Ward Melville, so
we had many conversations about SBU for many years.
Jim told me personally that he was going to take this university
FBS. Of course I did t believe him, but apparently that was
true…

I think its been talked about it wasnt a secret and Stanley and
the state probably didnt want it. you dont like to hear about
politics on here but that played a role. good interview with
lots of good information which a lot of people have known for a
long time.
but ill tell you this is how it works here for SB. No one cares
about growing they only care about their jobs and they get
rewarded every year for that so they dont want to rock the boat
but they dont care in the dept with the higher ups. Jim was
doing good things here and heilbron has existed. he knows no one
cares because the fans that jim and Steve brought with their
style is gone. So if they dont care and heilbron has done his
best its over here because they wont shake it up and bring in
another jim fiore. get used to that and people have been saying
it fora long time. if there are no fans to keep them honest and
the presidents dont care and the state doesnt care these people
have dream jobs making a lot of money and they pretend to try
and a lot of you believe them.

WHY THE HELL DIDN'T WE TAKE IT!!??! BRUH
We didn't hear anything about it because moves like that are
generally kept in the deep dark until right before they happen.
Not surprised though. 2012 was when this program peaked both
from an on field perspective as well as fan interest. How
playing more regional teams tanked interest is a case study in
ineptitude that should be studied.

im not surprised we didnt take it- im surprised by two things-
we didnt really much about it (if at all), which is addressed
above.
and secondly, what was the potential reason? money?
facilities? or just a general non-commitment to sports? it
would seem a no brainer for any school to make the jump given
the invitation. im sure there's reasons the administration had-
just want to know what they are. the MAC- at the time- may have
been a good fit for us. it would have "dragged up" all sports,
i think. it wouldve been an expense though, i get that.
perhaps facilities was the issue?

And the point is that since stanley came to sb its been over and
sb sports peeked a few years ago. They just go through the
motions and if a team can make some noise one year thats great
but otherwise the administration doesnt want to do any better
and since you dont have a guy like Fiore pushing for more it
hasnt happened. Go to division three and get it over with. save
a lot of money.

In 2012 we only had an 8k person stadium and FBS schools at the
time required average rolling attendance of 15k+. It was
mentioned on this board in the past that building the 20k person
stadium wouldn't pass a traffic feasibility study, thus
requiring major infrastructure changes. It just wasn't really an
option at the time.
I haven't listened to the interview, but I doubt we really had
an offer as a much a feeler, and that this is classic Fiore
puffery
