CBS college sports is reporting Georgia State is joining the
Sunbelt and leaving the CAA. Stony Brook definitely figures to
be on the short list to replace them.

I saw that also and hope we are on the top of the CAA's A list
for 2013 as a full sports member.

A SBU move for 2013 would be awesome specially if we have
another good year in football. This is what we need NOW! so
excited for the next few months

Welcome to the board, jmufan. What are your opinions on the
matter? Are you looking for the CAA to add a member? Do you
think Stony Brook is a good fit? What do you think is in JMU's
future now that they have that fancy stadium?

I have been follwing the discussion on the CAA boards and
Hofstra's board regarding our possible membership to the CAA.
Mostly it has been favorable with some skeptics of course. I am
surprised that Hofstra seems to be looking forward to having us
on board. I know it was their President that has refused to
allow both schools to compete against each other in athletics
and not the fans or the coaching staffs. So this summers
meetings between StonyBrook and the CAA should be interesting.
Hopefully it will bear fruit.

I think Hofstra and Stony Brook playing in a conference together
would be GREAT for both involved. That rivalry could create a
lot of local interest for both schools. For the CAA, they'd have
both of Long Island's Division I programs under their umbrella.
Having a monopoly on Long Island college athletics has to be
attractive. Long Island is a large and wealthy market.

From all the chatter on the CAA boards and others the CAA may
take two schools on board. One for football and maybe an
additional school for basketball. The word is that George Mason
and VCU may bolt for the
A-10 Conference which as we know is a high mid major
basketball conference and Butler may join them. I think we fit
the profile the CAA is looking for with football and lax. Add
in our academic profile and medical school and we look pretty
good.

If only someone can release a press release with some substance
to add fuel to the fire. I'm a little exhausted of talking about
this move without anything of substance being released. I need
something to make me go crazy. Something that says that Fiore is
on talks with the CAA. Something PLEASE!!! lol
I'm anxious already for this move. Newsday has been reporting
this for the past couple of years. Everyone is talking about
it... and still nothing really going on. DAMN IT!!!!
Make it happen Brook!!!
