Officials with the SUNY system are expected to appoint an
interim leader for Stony Brook University in a timely manner,
but the search for a permanent new president will probably take
       months.
Kevin Law, chairman of the Stony Brook Council, who chaired the
search committee when McInnis was selected, will again serve as
chairman in the search for her replacement, he said Thursday.
SUNY's leadership will make the final decision among candidates
that the search committee and council have vetted. Details of
the search process and candidates will remain confidential.
“I expect we're going to have a very robust pool of candidates,”
Law said. “We're not going to rush things for the sake of
expedience. We want to get things done right — not necessarily
       quick.”
SUNY Chancellor John King is expected to make a recommendation
on an interim president to the Board of Trustees in a timely
manner while the search process gets underway.
United University Professions president Frederick E. Kowal said
it is important the search committee brings in candidates who
have had experience working with unionized staff. He also said
the recruitment process should be open and include
representatives from all areas of the university — not just
academics but professionals from the hospitals as well.

I would be very surprised if CAA and America East merge. It’s
neither feasible nor practical. It would be a bloated 23
members for a mid major conference. Historically America East
has been the feeder conference for CAA. So I don’t see those
teams including Stony Brook wanting to go back or wanting a
merger. And no way Southern teams would want to travel to Maine
and New Hampshire for olympic sports.
There is one possibility.. I give 5% chance.. which is a breakup
of CAA along north/south. A new conference of Stony Brook,
Hofstra, Northeastern, Drexel, Monmouth and Towson. Add Albany,
Fairfield and couple of more and it’s a premier northeast
       mid-major conference.
What is more likely to happen is one of Albany or Fairfield
       joining CAA replacing Delaware.
CAA should have been more selective in adding teams. I liked the
addition of NCAT and Monmouth. But I really don’t see what
Campbell and Hampton brings to the table. Adding those two were
a poor decision along with adding Bryant for Football.

Campbell brings good programs to the table with nice facilities.
They bring more to the table than SB does if you ask me. The CAA
has north teams traveling south in all sports which is silly. Im
not saying that that merger will happen but it wouldnt surprise
me. at this point it would not be good for albany to join the
caa. their a good fit for the america east and the caa offers
nothing to them except higher travel costs to go play campbell,
       hampton, NCAT, etc.
