Short one for this one.
This one's in play for us, in my opinion. I do not believe that
this is this juggernaut that will wipe the floor with us. We can
throw some height at Williams, we can stay in front of them, and
we have experience to match theirs.
We really let Moore do what he wanted the last time, and he made
us pay. I still feel like we turn him into a shooter; he killed
us with four threes but I'd make him do it again, on a neutral
floor. What I took away from the last one was their guard depth.
Magee was awesome. Bergens played some good minutes. I thought
they were great, and gave them a bump off the bench that we
don't get from our guards.
Meanwhile, I thought Frey looked tentative against Northeastern.
14 minutes, no shots, little otherwise. Philip was close to the
same, but you noticed him on the defensive end. And a DNP-CD for
TO. And Fitz was quiet too. Add it up and we had just two bench
points to Northeastern's 29. We can't have 84 percent of our
scoring come from the three guards again. Fitz and Maidoh's main
job will be to make it difficult for Williams, but a complete
absence of offensive input won't work for us. Of course, Fitz
had an outstanding first half in our last meeting, but had just
4 and 1 after the break. And all the while, Drexel went on a
run.
Dumb stat: Luke House 8-9 FTs against us; 7-8 FTs in the other
17 conference games
Slightly less dumb stat: House shot 51% from three at home; 27%
away from home
I can't say that I'm especially optimistic given Drexel's
ability on the glass, the presence of a dynamic guard and a
three-time DPOY and rebounding beast, to go with some shooters
and some depth. But we have senior guards and some size to
combat all that. Can they regroup 24 hours later and live to see
yet another day?

The one big thing that we have going for us, is that we are the
underdog, and can play loose. I thought that last night was a
very physical game, and we’ll see what toll it takes on us
tonight. Or can we ride the wave of Adrenalin emotion? Yes,
Frey looked like a deer in headlights last night, and Geno
really has to get TO involved tonight to eat up some minutes
(very surprised he didn’t get a few minutes last night esp. when
we were up 16).
As far as tonight's game is concerned, I think the key will be
to shut down Moore. Very impressed with his play. I think it's
a foregone conclusion that we're not going to stop Williams;
he's an unstoppable beast. And as Geno said during the presser,
we have to rebound better on the defensive end. Fitz just
didn't show up last night; and we need a better effort from him
tonight.
Imagine we could somehow take this one, and see Hofstra in the
semis! OK, thinking too far ahead here......
Go SBU!

We just have to stop Moore. Williams will do his work down low,
but other than that, they don't really have many other offensive
threats. Just two double-digit scorers. The game last time was
decided by that spurt of four 3s in a minute.
I really wonder how much the zero day's rest will play a factor.
The top 4 seeds won all pretty handily last year, if memory
serves me right.

Moore was left open the whole game last time. That cant happen
today. Need maidoh and fitz to box out today as well. Feel
confident about the offense. Having 3 5th year guards is a
luxury this time of year.

If Ford thinks we can go at Williams, he’s dreaming. The guy is
a human eraser.

I'm questioning our guys' decision to go inside when Williams is
right there. We were playing a great game up until those last
2-3 possessions.

Drexel’s defense is much better than a few weeks ago. No open
looks so far.

I dunno about this one. Drexel seems a step quicker and a few
inches taller.
Rolling the dice with TSM’s two fouls but have to. I thought
they did a good job defending him in Philly and a quiet start to
tonight’s game.

Have to wonder if fatigue is hurting us, a lot of what are
normally sure shots for us are falling short. But good to not
let Drexel run away with too much momentum. Only down 6 with the
ball now coming out of the timeout.

House really hurting us. Feels like every time down is 1-on-1
for us. Drexel D having something to do with that, but little
continuity on offense.
