TSM <3. Going to miss him when this year's over.

Strong finish off a real lethargic start to the 2nd half. We
will get Northeastern on Sat, and have the luxury of having to
beat them 3 times in the season, to get a rematch with Drexel.

I was super impressed with the way we fought back after Delaware
had all the momentum to begin the second half. Maybe we just
wanted it more, maybe Delaware wasn't giving it their all
because this game didn't mean anything to them (though I doubt
it based on how they came out of the break firing), but it
looked like we were going to fold yet again before Clarke and
TSM willed us to victory with their 3s.
Even though Delaware had nothing to play for, still can't
believe we won by 23 points. I'm glad we gave all the seniors an
ovation once they got taken off the court, and I love it for
Maidoh that he made both free throws before pulled to get to an
even 10 points in two straight games.

I thought Delaware was invested, but we knocked down a lot of
shots. It was just the fourth time we shot .500 or better on the
season, and the first time we made more than we missed from
three. Everything's hunky dory when the shots are going down.
I don't know if it's a glitch or how KenPom works but ... we
jumped 25 places with the win today. [emoji848]
We beat Northeastern twice; can we do it again? It would feel
like it would be a major major letdown if we didn't. But they
also came to our gym without some key pieces and nearly won.
Let's get this one before we start looking at Drexel, Hofstra,
etc.

I can see it. I think margin of victory over expected is a huge
factor. The line was 1, and we won by 23... 22 points over
expected. Similarly, when we played Campbell, we were favored by
4 and lost by 18, 22 points under expected, so we dropped 22
spots.
For POY... has to be Tyler Thomas, right? Third-leading scorer
in the country on the #3 seed. Charleston spreads the ball
around too much to have a flashy scorer, and Drexel doesn't have
one either. Can't see them giving it to Rice on the 8 seed.
Still seething at the Tyler f'in Thomas game... in the end it
cost us 1 seed, we'd be the 6 and go against a gassed winner of
Elon/Hampton and then face Hofstra. The disadvantage is that
Northeastern will be rested unlike Elon/Hampton, but I think we
match up evenly well with both Drexel and Hofstra so that
doesn't matter as much to me. We avoid Charleston until the
finals, if we would be so lucky to even make it close to there.

Great game. Fun one to be at in person. TSM got several big
ovations after some big 3s which felt like the proper way to
send him out. I will stick to what i said pre-game. I’m ready to
call the season a step forward. 10 conference wins in a really
tough CAA is nothing to sneeze at. Hopefully more to come in the
tournament. 186 would be the highest in kenpom we finished under
Geno and highest since Boals last season when we finished at
166.

Just saw this on Twitter.
Where #CAAHoops teams finished relative to KenPom
preseason rating.
Monmouth +99 spots
Stony Brook +90
UNCW +34
Delaware +26
Elon +13
A&T +12
Campbell +6
..........
Hofstra -8
CofC -9
W&M -9
Drexel -17
Towson -21
Northeastern -21
Hampton -77
At this point, I can't believe we were 276 to start the year.
It's hard to feel great about how this season went given
all the missed opportunities, but at the end of the day... we
still finished top half in the CAA? In our second year. Highest
out of all the new additions.

“Really tough CAA?” The CAA finished in the bottom half
rating-wise.

When we won the AE in 2016 there were 3 top 200 teams, this year
the CAA had 8 top 200 teams. Much deeper league than we’re used
to as a conference.

I think the season is a success and certainly a step in the
right direction. The concern is that it was accomplished with
three 1 year grad transfers. Is that sustainable or is this the
new normal in college basketball?
I'm just hoping Ford can parlay winning record into a good
spring recruiting class.
