The last time around, I really thought that we could have pulled
away, but we couldn't quite shake W&M, in part due to Sean Haupt
going off from deep. Now that we have them in our arena, on
short rest, I like our odds.
We're getting a W&M team that's soft on the inside, with Noah
Collier having gotten hurt early in the season and Charlie
Williams has missed the last two weeks, and they've lost every
game since. That really leaves the inside to freshman Tai
Hamilton and the wider Dorsey, who's still more of a wing. W&M
has been in the red on the glass in their last four games, and
in seven of their last eight (albeit the margins haven't been
       horrible).
It's a tough turnaround for W&M, which was in a tough battle
with the top team in the conference at home. And now they not
only have a game a few hundred miles up the road two days later,
but it's an early tip time. It's just a big ask. I'd love to
know what the road team's record on Saturdays when they've
traveled. At least they've seen us before and don't have to do
quite as much legwork to prepare.
We've done a pretty good job on Gabe Dorsey, who's probably
their biggest threat to score 20-25 points and keep W&M in this.
Lowe should have been on my favorite guys in the league team the
other day. I appreciate any undersized guy who gets on the
boards like he does. He leads them in points, rebounds, assists
       and steals. Nice player.
Reminder: TSM gets to 134 games Saturday, ties Warney for the
program record at Drexel next week, and then (knock on wood) has
it to himself when he suits up on Senior Night against Delaware.
I hope he gets a massive ovation. He's been terrific.
It's pretty amazing that W&M has never made the NCAA tournament.
It's not like they're this team that's new to Division I. Per
       Wiki, they've gone 0-9 in tournament-clinching games. 0-9! We
only have one D-I postseason win to our credit (2013 NIT), but
it's one more than them. They're 0-3 in the NIT. I'm not sure
that this is the group that's going to take them places over the
next couple years – decent players but limited. And I can't
imagine it's Fischer. He'll last the month, but how much more
beyond that? Does the 2019-20 CAA COY award still hold any
       weight?
With Campbell's loss to Hampton tonight, we're now two games
clear of both them and Northeastern, so in all probability, we
can lock ourselves into the top eight. Monmouth has a great shot
at winning out, although they did get massacred tonight at
Towson. If we did end up in a tie with them, we'd have the
tiebreaker due to strength of victory – the big win over UNCW
(if they stay in the top two) keeping us ahead. But maybe
Monmouth slips up and we seize the opportunity. And maybe, if
we're real lucky, we're playing Delaware for the 6 seed on the
last day of the season. If we won that, we'd obviously have
split the season series and then we'd own the tiebreaker
assuming our UNCW win holds up. The 6 would be something. To me,
there's a big difference between a possible quarterfinal matchup
with UNCW (with Harden-Hayes back) and Charleston ... and
       Hofstra, Towson or reeling Drexel.
First things first: W&M. Let's take care of business.

6th seed would make a world of difference, but realistically, it
would require a sweep of our last 3 games, and some help against
       Monmouth.
Athletic department again with SNY broadcast on schedule, but on
Optimum I see Mets game listed at 1 pm.
EDIT: SBU Athletics must have read this post (or last game's).
They adjusted to be FloSports only.

Monmouth is an atrocious 1-12 on the road this year, but somehow
that one W is at West Virginia. Two of their final three are on
the road... but at Hampton and Elon. Hopefully they continue to
be snakebitten even on road trips to the bottom tier CAA
       schools.
Delaware has a tough game against Drexel on Monday, then home vs
Northeastern before coming to face us at Island Federal for the
season finale. Delaware lost to UNCW and we beat UNCW, so we
have that tiebreaker, right? It's looking like the season finale
is going to be for the 6 seed. This is where we're haunted by
the Tyler Thomas shot yet again.

That’s amazing, just heard that too. How is that possible? I
thought they were done granting Covid extension years.

He redshirted 18-19, only played 5 games in 20-21 and then
missed the entire 21-22 season, so this is only his third "full"
season. But wow, unexpected! Great news.

Very bad fouls, bad TO’s. Still having trouble finishing.
