It seems almost certain Geno has reached his ceiling as a coach.
Either the program stays at this level or starts creeping down
and it becomes another Priore situation.

This is a salient point and why I'm in favor of moving in
another direction. If we're fine with being "fine", then Geno
checks that box. But if we're looking to looking to take it up a
notch, there are high-level assistants with name recognition and
charisma, maybe even ascending HCs at lower levels, who can do
that. Of course, it's easy to say all this when I'm not in the
locker room and am not the one paying the bills. An opening in
basketball would undoubtedly attract more qualified suitors than
       the football opening.

Gut punch loss the type of loss that can lead the season to
spiral. Hopefully this is the last Geno squad so he doesn’t have
       to waste anymore talent.

I guess the downside of firing a competent but average coach
like Geno because he wasn't meeting expectations is that you
could end up like Buffalo, especially since New York state's
hampering of college athletics well documented. Jeez, Buffalo is
*bad bad* now. 343/362 in KenPom, 348 in NET, 2-18 record, and
only one of those is a D1 win. Jeff Boals and Ohio just
destroyed them 91-70. But that shouldn't scare us from making a
move, because the odds that it goes as disastrously as it has
for them is not that high.

we have to get used to being middle of the pack and not anything
more with geno and shawn heilbron. geno has been extended and
heilbron didnt announce it. the kid from the statesmen tweeted
it last night that heilbron confirmed the extention like i been
       saying.

       Wow, that's right.
I have been fed up with Heilbron's cowardice for years and this
is just another pathetic example. Too scared to announce it on
your own or through the team's pages so you use a student with
100 followers as your mouthpiece (not a dig at the reporter at
all, props to him for getting the info out there, but obviously
the kid isn't going to have as many eyes on him as the actual
team pages), using him as a test dummy to gauge the reaction
from the fanbase instead of taking the heat yourself. Were we
always this tight-lipped before Heilbron came, I don't remember
       at this point.

Middle of the pack, at best. The current team may be the best
since Warney, loaded with 5th year seniors and grad transfers
and the best Geno can deliver is middle of the pack. What's
gonna happen next year when Geno uses the rebuilding excuse at
       every press conference?

It’s like Heilbron doesn’t want to deal with the work it takes
to hire a new coach. It’s easier to simply extend them.
