       Why give Geno an extension?
       By: guest441 Date: January 23, 2024, 8:17 am

Same old story last night and everyone has questions about his
coaching. If its true when we heard Geno was extended early or
before the season started another heilbron fail. why would you
extend this coach and so early in a season. they dont care about
winning and its crazy if heilbron did that. and the arena was
maybe half full again if you watched the game. ends were ful
       that was it.

Truly bizarre if true could we get langel from colgate or Gerry
mcnamara from Syracuse. We are not far from competing top 4 in
CAA just need a restart and next year makes sense .

Sounds like a great topic for our friends at the Statesman to
       explore.
Right now, we're in line to go 15-16, 8-10 in the CAA, per
KenPom. In the preseason, there's no way anybody would have
signed up for that. I can't see anybody being extended for
anything less than three years. It would be short-sighted to
give Geno that given our modest results and the program's need
       for a jolt IMO.
To me, there are three camps – should not, could and should.
I've thought that there was a path where he could be extended
and I wouldn't totally hate it, but in reality, assuming we're
really trying to compete here and get the area excited about
this team, I believe that we should not extend him. He's fine if
you want to win some games but ultimately replaceable, and now's
as good a time as any to try to step it up a notch.
Edit: I don't mean today; just after the year.

It’s obvious hellibron likes stability and doesn’t seek to have
a coaching carousel. Perhaps it’s harder to recruit people here
than we think despite the academic rankings? Athletics clearly
is not a top priority. It’s honestly a miracle that Priore got
terminated last year all things considered- it’s clear that
unless there’s a major scandal or embarrassment, they are
content at keeping the status quo (despite how incredibly slow
the progress is). Next year is a major question mark with all
the grads and players leaving. Not sure how we can compete in
the CAA next year (especially with how much we are struggling
       this year to finish games).

Geno nice guy but a mediocre coach everywhere hes been the
buffalo scenario scares me a little but a guy like tobin
anderson would’ve been a good hire here.

Statesman has been really good this year hope they deep dive
this attendance announced was 3,000. We have so many departing
players a new guy can hit the portal i mean Geno barely does
high school recruiting anymore only Frey plays who is young. I
want a hungry P5 assistant to come in and promote the games be
out in the community try to build the brand back we should be a
launching pad school not somewhere to just collect a check. Geno
had some tough breaks but this year there is no excuses CAA imo
is wide open for anyone to get hot and win.

If Geno thought he had a team that could compete this year he
did. his coaching is where we lose games. he doesnt know when to
foul? or he isnt telling our players when to foul? I dont know.
And like someone pointed out there is just no flow to the
offense. its like they just play run and gun street ball at
times. Geno is now who he has always been as someone else said
here. average or below average as a coach and i think we have to
get used to it if its true and he has been extended.

That is the whole point of sources: you protect their anonymity.
Once you break that, it's nearly impossible to be trusted again
       with insider information.
