brutal. missing bunnies, cant hit a three, drexel gets hot from
       deep.
they look exactly like the men's team over the past 15 years-
win a ton of games, collapse when it matters- culprit is not
sharing the ball and missing low % shots.
what's next- do we make a postseason tournament like the WNIT?

Dismal shooting percentages from the field. Way too many
turnovers. Cue the AD- we fought hard till the end - we’ll be
       back next year

Just devastating. Can't win the men's tournament as the
underdog, can't win the women's tournament as the overwhelming
favorite 80 spots ahead of the closest conferencemate in NET.
Nothing good ever happens to Stony Brook. This is the kind of
the week that really makes you question the purpose of still
rooting for these Seawolves. Hooley was a decade ago now and yet
his spirit still lingers. Just so hard to feel good about having
gone to this godforsaken cursed school.

I just think the regular season should matter and the teams that
perform better should have the advantage by playing the
tournament on their home floor. Even if that would have meant
that the men would have lost in the quarters. Both of these
tournaments are watered down because subpar teams got hot,
       keeping deserving teams out.
Guessing we get a WNIT bid, but we’ll see if Langford’s on the
       sideline for it.

I didn't even think it was an effort thing that led to the loss,
really, because we were +15(!!!!) on the offensive glass and we
fought hard to cause turnovers in the press in the fourth
quarter. So many easy layups were blown on our end, which could
be pressure. But also, we played exactly to the scout and got
punished for it. Drexel shot 29% from three in the regular
season, and then today they were 11-for-19 from 3, with so many
banks and side-rim rolls in. Those are the shots that
hypothetically, you want them to take from a defensive
perspective because they're weak at it. Just a few too many bad
passes on our end. Drexel had five players with 4 fouls for most
of the fourth quarter and we still couldn't fully attack them.
And also, the broadcast said that the #1 seed hasn't won it on
the women's side since 2017? What gives?
If anything, I think losing today keeps Langford here for us.

Too many missed layups and way too many turnovers trying to
force the ball into Pittman, who sadly couldn't get anything
going. Not sure if they'll get an NIT bid or if they even
deserve one, but I hope they get to play some more meaningful
       basketball.

I only watched the first half of the game, but you could play
the recording of that half to teams from pee-wee on up to
illustrate how crisp passing > dribbling. Drexel moved the ball
very well with smart passes and certainly benefited with hot
       hands from deep.
Saw a lot of dribbling into traffic and poor lob passes to
well-guarded teammates from SBU. Looked a lot, too, like Drexel
had a game plan on both ends that they executed well.
Assume the second half was somewhat the same, with the teams
essentially playing to a draw in the box score. That 1st quarter
blitz is what held. And, yeah, as someone who has followed both
SBU basketball teams to some degree since the early 90's, you
kind of get used to these outcomes.

Stony Brook marches on. We'll play at *James Madison in the WBIT
       on Thursday.
Some consolation. Still a tough day. But let's make the most of
       the opportunity.
Edit: Strange. On the WBIT selection show, it said we were at #1
       seed Miami. But nope.
Edit: Now the SB link doesn’t work anymore. Maybe we are playing
       Miami. (Shrug)

I just wish I could care. Sorry, but if you have a 27-3 record,
you have to make the NCAA Tournament at that point. We were over
70 spots higher than the next closest CAA team in the NET. It's
not like it was a competitive season either, we steamrolled
pretty much every team by double digit margin of victory.
Columbia got the final at-large bid - a team we beat by double
digits! In fact, I think they jinxed us because yesterday in
their postgame presser, their coach used us to boost their
resume by saying "Stony Brook's going to win the CAA tomorrow"
when explaining how their losses were quality losses. It's still
on their Twitter. There has to be a protection clause out there
when the regular season results were that dominating.
       I calculated this: we're 134-40 (.770) over the last 6 seasons -
and there's just ONE NCAA bid to show for that? Yes, I know
COVID and the America East ban struck two of those years from
us, but of course it would. Just like how the men were 119-46
(.721) from 2012-16 with just ONE tournament from all of that.
       It's depressing and infuriating.

       Wait, I'm confused here.
We were originally paired with U Miami, which was their intended
#1 overall seed (NET 51). They dropped out so they added James
       Madison in (NET 105)
       We ended NET 72.
We also had a higher RPI than JMU.
       WHY ARE WE NOT HOSTING?
