January 11 I believe ends the dead period so I would think that
SBU should be bringing in potential recruits shortly. Also
usually a lot of colleges have their junior days where they
start bringing in 2025 players on campus. Having said all this
January is shaping up to be a very busy month for the SBU
coaches so they better release the names of the new coaching
staff soon. I think we’re going to see anywhere from 4 to 6
coaches being held over for Cosh’s Staff

Thats not good. is heilbron telling cosh how to run the program?
Is cosh unable to get good coaches?

I know of two Martino and Bache however there are a few young
guys I would like to see stay; Barber, Daniels and Hammonds only
because I think all three have very good work ethic and would
like to see how they do under a new regime

The 2024 roster is posted. It looks like Cosh and company were
able to recruit many of the players in the transfer portal to
stay at Stony Brook. Of particular note we see
Nick Chimienti DB
JuJu Ganthier DB
Jadon Turner RB KR
on the roster. I'm also surprised how many of the seniors/grad
students still have eligibility. If the roster is correct, we
return nearly everyone from last years team. Lost Kaler (LB),
Rodriguez (OL), and Tunc (OL) to transfer and then Porter (CB)
and McKinnie (OL) are out of eligibility. I believe everyone
else from the 2 deep is returning.
Probably setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm talking
myself into this team already. A couple impact transfers and
this team should be competitive again

[/quote] No idea if those SBU players were inundated with offers
in the crowded portal but I am assuming Cosh was selective in
terms of who he really wanted back from the team that went 2-19
over the last two years.
It is also true a bunch of non-portal guys from that 2-19 team
have eligibility and are returning. Which, again, is a mixed
blessing.
.500 in the CAA within the next three years (even if we pull a
goose egg in the CAA this upcoming year) is my goal for a
rebuilt Stony Brook team.

needs kids for spring ball.

Want to update this because Tunc is now listed on the 2024
roster as well. So the team only lost Kaler and Rodriguez to
transfer and Porter adn McKinnie to graduation.
Going to be really interesting to see what the new coaching
staff can do with essentially the same roster Priore had last
year. I really hope they can suprise people

Well they also have the Georgetown QB who transferred in to
compete with Case (QB) along with Wyatt Cooper class of 23 grey
shirt (TE) and Alex Menghi class of 24 early graduation (TE) who
also enrolled for the current Spring Semester. This is in
addition to whatever transfers they get (or loose) after Spring
ball once the Portal opens back up for the start of the season.
Either way, they did not loose much and have some nice
additions. Time will tell. What is funny is if you read back a
few people were bashing Stony Brook saying everyone was gonna
leave in the portal, how are they going to field a team, how can
they recruit, etc... not only did they retain Menghi (number one
ranked Tight End in NY) and get him in early, they got a 3 star
QB out of South Carolina, one of the top LB's in NJ, one of LI's
most dominant players ever in Sebastian Regis, etc... looks like
Cosh did a fantastic job retaining AND recruiting (wether they
are Priore recruits or new recruits). Very impressed with Cosh
thus far, but the W/L record will determine

Menghi tore his ACL midway through his senior year and is
rehabbing right now and will more than likely redshirt.
Because this is a new coaching staff all positions are wide open
so the Spring season should be very competitive

On paper a couple of possibly good kids so far for the new
coach. Lets see who is here after spring ball. the players who
will be here most of them cant go anywhere else except do d2 or
d3 schools. players who come here probably wont have to many
other options so we will see.

Not sure what that has to do with anything. There are injuries
in Football. My point was that Cosh did a fantastic job
retaining and recruiting.
