Exactly. A perfect example of one university's desire to compete
in D1 sports and garnish national attention, and another
university's desire to be concerned about climate research at
Governors Island. Two different priorities. Of course, academics
should be the number one priority in any university, but to
abandon their D1 status is just reckless. What I mean about
"abandon". No concerns for the athletic department. Just
continue to allow the AD to piss off their boosters and the
local community for their gains.

Just curious. Why would SBU announce that they are doing a
national search for a new HC, when people are saying that the OC
is a strong candidate to be SB next HC?? A national search costs
money to hire, and is time-consuming, something that is clearly
consuming time now. If SBU has intentions of hiring their OC, it
should have happened already. but then again, as we all know.
There is nothing transparent bout this athletic department
anyway.

That’s why when some people on this site said that they would
announce a new HC by December 04 I thought that was a reach
because they move very slow in the athletic department however
when I started hearing the OC has a very good chance of being
the next HC I surprised as you are. I hope I’m wrong and they
have someone else in mind but the longer it takes the more
likely the OC gets the job.
Another thing Alex Menghi of St. Anthony’s has announced he will
be signing his LOI on December 20 for SBU so he must have some
idea that the OC is the guy

I am new to this forum. Hello all! I am just a fan of Football
on Long Island. I am hearing many different names for the next
possible head coach, one of them is not their current OC.
However, I wouldn't be surprised if it is him... Nunzio from
Syracuse had an interview from what I was told but opted to stay
with Syracuse with their new head coaching hire (Fran Brown).
Word on the street was that he had the job. But we'll never
know. Again, rumor mills... I also heard that Coach Jackson from
WV and Coach Hemphill from Duke are strong candidates. Having
said that, they should announce someone soon. The transfer
portal is out of control. Yes, they might loose key players,
however there are thousands that entered the portal looking for
a new home.

Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for that insight. Hemphill has always been my dream
candidate for the position. Interesting about Campanile as he
was another one who made sense who’s been stuck as an assistant
forever

I think you might have hit the nail on the head with Hemphill.
Duke just hired Manny Diaz yesterday, and from what I'm reading,
he is clearing house and bringing in his own people. Having
coached at Hofstra and Stony Brook, and being defensive
coordinator here, it would be a smart move to make. And I think
it will happen early next week, at least I hope!

I know Hemphill and if is making himself it would be a great
hire. He grew up in Delaware and when he was a coordinator at
SBU he recruited South Jersey and Delaware and did a great job.
If he were to come here I could see Bobby McIntyre staying on as
LB Coach as he and Lyle were good friends. He also might be able
to convince a few of the portal guys to come back. The reason I
never put him in the mix was because I thought he wanted to stay
in FBS.

as Long as they get rid of the current defensive coordinator
(Hachmann), it's all good.

If Hemphill comes here, that would be a game changer. I just
don’t see it. He moved on from FCS
