The folks at Field of 68 have been getting on teams about these
early-season matchups, all of which used to be exhibition games,
but now I think they're opportunities to get guys in, get guys
playing together and not sweat about whether it will hurt their
NET five months from now. If you took out the Michigan State
upset, the top 20 teams won by an average of 39 points on
       Monday. Woof.
Even look at our early opponents:
Duquesne 79, Cleveland State 77 (OK!)
       Nebraska 84, Lindenwood 52 (meh)
       Rider 113, Immaculata 67 (cringe)
       Yale 102, Vassar 53 (ugh)
At least we get back on track with Wagner having played Fordham
tough, and the same with Bryant having a close loss at
Manhattan. Stonehill got waxed by the newly minted George
       Washington Revolutionaries.
I was watching a little bit of Drexel-La Salle and hearing about
how Drexel was welcomed in to the Big Five to make a Big Six.
Wouldn't a similar setup in New York be nice? The Philly setup
is perfect, with each team getting two intra-city games. And
then I thought about how we wouldn't even be included ... but
you could go St. John's, Fordham, Wagner, Columbia, Manhattan
and Iona. But then Rutgers and Seton Hall and everybody on the
outskirts would clamor to be a part of it. I dunno; maybe it
wouldn't work. I'm still in favor of a CAA/A-10 challenge.
I'm glad we only have one of these lay-ups. Let's see what we
have with Frederick, who had a shaky couple minutes at St.
John's, and then Space, Muratori, JFrey, PFrey, etc. It's wild
to look back and see that Kaine played 38 minutes last time
against these guys. TSM played 38 against Miami Hamilton! We
       were so so strapped.
Let's get in and get out and get ready for Duquesne.

I was expecting the St John's game to be competitive for longer,
but the injured players slotted back into the lineup too well.
It was still our most respectable opening game in a long time
       though.
       2022: 36-point loss to Florida
       2021: 22-point loss to A10 George Mason
2020: 14-point loss to Saint Peter
Compared to those, I will take it.

You really get the sense from these first two games that TO has
       taken the next step.

1000%. have to wonder if trial by fire last year was good for
       his development.
fitz looks great too. frey does more than just shooting.
the amount of steals is mind-boggling. even the ones that dont
show up in stats, we lodged the ball loose for many fast breaks.
