0-8 from 3, and that’s the difference. We are playing excellent
D, and we definitely have some good players. Aside from Clarke,
all the newcomers are athletic.

Maidoh and Snoddy have been impressive on D. Lots of physicality
and great blocks. Would be a tied game if we were having even an
average night from 3.

We’re going to be fine in the CAA.
Clarke has not been good. I thought we’d see more.
St. John’s is really giving us the middle and staying out on
shooters. No real problem with the looks from deep. The last one
by Snoddy was one of only a few wide open threes though. Lucky
to be this close with Noll having hit some difficult shots.
Unlucky with Jenkins murdering us late in the shot clock.

I'm pretty surprised how quiet Clarke and TSM have been.

St John’s is really good
It’s so nice to actually have a team with depth. Last year’s
injuries made the whole year a mulligan IMHO
Feel so much better about athletics at SBU

Are we just going to bleed the clock and watch Noll go to work?
Are we just out of ideas offensively?
I feel like we need TO out there.

TO looks so much quicker this year. Except for one silly TO, he
has played very much in control, but with lots of pace. Maidoh
and Snoddy huge gets for SBU. Noll too.

I think you have to take that result. Competed hard and even
finished with a flurry. Now we hope that St. John's runs the
table.
Takeaways:
- I thought Maidoh was sensational on both ends, even with the 1
for 9 (spin cycle for the one though!). Look at that stat line:
2 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals, 3 blocks. The steals
already get him in the top 15 or 20 for a single game all time.
I never understood why he played so minimally at Fairfield –
just looking at tonight, does that make any sense whatsoever to
you? He matched his career-high in shots already. In general,
led by him, we really competed underneath against some bulls.
- Snoddy's a boost too. A part of his game that I didn't expect
was his ballhandling. When Pitino hits you with a press and you
can have your 4 bring it up, that's just such a perk. Total
swiss army knife.
- I just think this team's going to need more TO. He just always
seems to be attacking, probing, competing, etc. Clarke's going
to be just fine, but I just like what TO gives us.
- Noll may kill me this year. Some of his shots/decisions, my
god. In the 10Q post, I used the phrase "funny looking" to
describe his game, and man was that true. But can't argue with
the results, no matter how we get there.
- The jury's still out on whether we can shoot. Four threes on
16 attempts and we stepped into a quarter of them max – the
Snoddy and Fitz makes, and maaaybe another one or two that I
don't remember.
- I thought Taylor was terrific on whoever he was covering,
namely TSM. Not to worry.
- A Kaiden Space sighting. I did not expect that. Good stuff in
his time on the floor.

Not sure why, but I had higher hopes for the opener. That said,
the team showed promise and I could see them being much more
competitive this year in the CAA.
