I don’t know if any data exists on this but hiring a D3 HC (as
Priore was) for a HC job at a top FCS conference is like hiring
someone from D2 to be HC at an FBS P5 program. Both jumps are
two levels up. Nobody would suggest hiring a D2 coach for a a P5
HC position and not sure it’s ever been done. The current AD
isn’t responsible for the hire but it shows moving up two levels
as a HC isn’t a recipe for success.
I have to disagree with you on this. Yes, there are failures
when going from DIII to DI, either FCS or FBS, but there are
also success stories. It's like any coaching hire; there's
always a risk of failure and a chance of a boom. Lance Leipold
went from DIII straight to Buffalo in the MAC, and his next stop
after Buffalo, which is where he still is today, Kansas. And
he's turned around both of those programs.
Didn’t know about Leipold. Point taken.

A reporter from the student newspaper asked if the coach is
feeling any pressure being 0-7 and he said he is not so there is
your answer the AD must be happy and so must the president. That
poor pepsi bottle.

There's a big difference between winning six championships at
Wisconsin Whitewater and what Priore did/was asked to do at
Trinity. That said, all of D-III is small time stuff, and I'd
argue we're much closer to that than we see on TV every
Saturday.

I think there are a number of D2 and D3 coaches that would do as
good a job as Priore. I don’t think that’s the issue- he’s just
not a good coach.
Heilbron (and Emmerich) for some bizarre reason seem so out of
touch with the pulse of the fans. I spend a decent amount of
money as a season ticket holder in the Big East nowadays and the
difference in experience is night and day. The program here is
just way more responsive to the needs of the fan base. There’s
no way donors are happy about this back at SBU.

since this is who they want as coach they should just drop down
to dIII and call it a day. No one would notice.

What an arrogant arrogant answer. "Ain't no pressure"? I can't
believe he more or less dismissed that question with a
pi$$-poor, condescending tone. Imagine an FBS coach or even GENO
answering it that way. A real media market and fan base would
skewer him. I give coaches the benefit of the doubt a lot of the
time – sometimes we're up, sometimes we're down, it happens, and
it's just sports – but that is just a despicable, tactless,
embarrassing response. No pressure?
If there's no pressure after going 2-16 in your last 18 games
and getting outscored 605-288 in that span, I don't know what to
say. Why should fans show up if that track record means nothing?
Saying there's no pressure is basically calling Heilbron soft.
And don't give me this "young" nonsense when you have 57 players
who are in their third year of school or later. UNH has 34
juniors, seniors or graduates. Maine has 36 and they put up
50-something points. How many graduate students do you need on a
depth chart to not call yourself "young"? Give me a break.
In closing, kudos to the student for asking a tough question.
Priore has to sit up there and face the music. What a joke.

This ENTIRE program, from the direct coaching to the support of
the university is a complete joke and YES they have NO business
as a D1 program with the way it is ran and supported. They
turned the lights out before the team left the field!!!!!!!
WTF!!!! What an embarrassment! I will finish this season and
run!!! The Politics dictate how this is ran and always will.
They say NY is tough, in reality NY is a JOKE, worried about
liability and political correctness. This program will NEVER
improve when it's handcuffed by incompetent morons that call
themselves coaches.

If we want to be taken seriously we cannot let local prospects
like Dylan Laube (from Westhampton) sign with a school as far
away as New Hampshire. It's a failure of this program and Priore
to not lock down Long Island talent like him.
Unfortunately they have had great local talent sign with them
and get SCREWED!!! Either not being played or burning their red
shirt yet as they did tonight again with one of their OL for
another loss. Just for an FYI they went into todays game playing
only 3 d ends and 3 d tackles while they let rest stand on the
side line disenchanted. These players are DONE and will be
hitting the portal to get away from this pathetic joke of a
team. Sorry to sound harsh but that is what it is IMO and the
players are the one really losing here. #FIRE EVERYONE

It's still amazing that this team used to play competitive games
with Liberty and would handle Coastal Carolina handily back in
the day.
It's really a shame how far this program has fallen and how
those other programs have risen.

Not really amazing because they had a gift from Hofstra’s
football shutdown: the two best running backs in FCS at the
time.
