it just hit me. for those who think we may fold the program
(i'm not one of them), could LIU come in and sweep up the
remnants, a lal SB/Hof circa 2010???

I personally like Coach P however when a program is where it is
right now like SBU a change is necessary I just hope that they
take their time and make the right choice.

Come on! You know that pretty much every HS coach on LI does not
like this guy. He runs his entire staff and players like a
dictator. He demands respect and commands none. He lost the
locker room completely. There is going to be a serious crisis at
the close of this season. Players leaving and none wanting to
come in. The ONLY reason a player will commit to this pathetic
program is because Hatch lied through his teeth about what the
players are to expect and receive. This program is. D1 CAA and
is ran worse than a bush league. They have NO clue how to
run/manage a team or develope a player.

I have a job for you Campi (since you are good at this) that
will show a lot. Print the roster. Show what the player position
was prior to coming in and where it was changed to by the brains
on the staff. Look at there physical dimensions and tell if they
are physically appropriate for there new position assigned.

I don't think we may but I wonder if we should. Its a pointless
waste of money because there are no fans. They all stopped
showing up years ago. They have had six losing seasons and cant
recruit better talent. Why have a football team if no one is
showing up other than mostly players family members? Heilbron
has ruined everything. Put the money into basketball where you
can get money if you go to the NCAA tournament. And find a new
ad because this one stinks and seems like he cant find another
job.

Every April Coach P runs a Coaching Clinic for HS Coaches and he
gets at least 50 HC from LI HS to attend so that statement that
they all hate him is not true. What they don’t like about him is
he tries to get their players as PWO’s and not Scholarship right
away as he makes them wait.
I don’t get your point about players coming here for one
position and moving to another that happens in every college
program because the player who switches positions is athletic
enough to do so.
As for PWO’s who were given a scholarship that happens at SBU
after the Spring Season however besides Melendez I don’t know
who else got one this past Spring and the reason I know about
him is I’m friends with his HS Coach.
Here’s the big question will Coach P be back and in my opinion
SBU should go in a different direction. There are some very good
candidates out there so hopefully that will happen. If they go
in another direction that person must be a very strong
recruiter, know how to develop talent, hire a strong staff and
let them do their jobs, and most importantly know how to win
because if they win the attendance will get a lot better.

There are plenty of good assistants who will come here- you’re
not going to pull multimillion dollar Power 5 assistants to take
this job but we can do better. Priore can’t be the ceiling for
this program

I don't think SBU is doomed to be horrendous in football
forever. The facilities are good, the diploma is worth
something, and the CAA is a pretty solid FCS conference. I am
sure there is a talented up-and-comer FCS assistant coach who
sees that and is willing to take a career risk with SBU. The
kind of guy recruits like. Maybe eventually go 8-4-ish for a
couple of years. And then moves on.
But none of that can even begin without Priore's departure.

He gambled that bringing in 19 transfers would make them instant
contenders and so far only a handful have made a difference;
Case and Johnson are two off the top of my head and those 19
took scholarships away from potential HS Players.
If they go 0-10 the president I believe will have to step up and
do something especially with all the empty seats at home games.
As far as recruiting goes we should be getting at least 7 Top
Players from LI and The 5 Boroughs every year, and get another 4
of the Top Players from the rest of NYS.
The Transfer Portal has become a way of life for College Coaches
and it is whether you win or lose players are going to leave
every year but bringing in 19 in my opinion is too much because
you stunt the growth of your younger players that are already in
the program.
My final thought is for the program to get better it has to take
a step back and bring in a new staff with a new voice at the
top.
I’m going to take a break from posting until after the season is
over.
