end of game, 16-12 UD. while we made it a game- this was ugly
ugly ugly, we got worked and were down 10g early.
a few bonehead penalties today. in any event- just like last
year- delaware with a lot of dirty hits. were just not a top 20
this year and UD is, again.
the good is that we fought back, albeit too late, and maybe the
kids are believing. this isnt the first time this year this
occurred. faceoffs got better, offense, some transition, etc.
our shooting wasnt great today, in the 4th we created a lot of
opportunities, but shots were wide, blocked, saved (21 saves!),
and even a few pipes.
if we are even lucky enough to win out, have other games turn
out the right way, get into the CAA, and win a game, you might
even see UD again.
on that front- fairfield beats monmouth (arguably good,
especially if we can beat fairfield), hof losing to drexel
(probably good). i heard that UD's move to to the A10 makes
them ineligible to host, but im not sure it matters. towson can
certainly contend.

arguably got some help today. four coastal spots up for grabs.
towson/del sitting atop of 5-0. next is fairfield at 3-2.
then, fourth is monmouth at 2-3 with a win over SB. fifth is SB
at 2-3, so is drexel, but SB won that tilt. last is hof and
hampton.
thus, beating fairfield next week is now huge. it'd bring us
both to 3-3, with a tiebreaker win. note that hampton has lost
all five CAA games by a total score of 100-17. if you can
assume (and you cannot) that fairfield (and hof) will beat them,
that already puts the stags at 4-2. so perhaps third place is
somewhat wrapped up.
by the same assumption- if we lose to hof, both at 3-4 with the
head to head, and hof beats us out. the only question is
whether that's good enough for fourth.

end of Q1, looking pretty good out there. SB up 2-0.
wilk saving everything. great defensive effort, which has been
a trend the last few weeks.
towson is beating up monmouth, which is probably good for us.
also hof is way out on hampton too, which was expected. we prob
need delaware to handle drexel.
PS filardi and bonacci are back, which feels just in time for a
huge game.

quick half. wilk making more great saves. SB up 6-4
on a faceoff win, morsch made a great stick fake on a break, and
scored an outside bouncer- nice play.
shot selection/placement hasnt been great so far, but its
getting the job done. kraemer, doughtery, etc.

lost 11-10. didnt see the second half but from the stats we
apparently had some difficulty clearing the ball. at 2-4, i
wonder if we've doomed our season. maybe there's a mathematical
way we can make the coastal tournament but i havent done the
math.

This is just a disastrous season
Not even making the CAA tournament is a huge undeperformance.
This is way better than the Nagle years but that's not saying
much

No, it isn't better.
Ever since we joined the America East back in '02, we never
failed to make the conference tournament. This would set a very
bad precedent.
Much worse when you have the best player in the conference in
Dylan Pallonetti. This team was supposed to give Delaware a run
for its money because the Blue Hens lost some key players to
graduation. Instead, it's the most underachieving team Stony
Brook has ever fielded.
The middle third of the field has been their bugaboo all year,
and the midfield play hasn't lived up to the advance hype
either. Goaltending has had its lapses but has been mostly good
overall. Unfortunately, it's a bad look for the coaching staff
right now.
They have a fighting chance by beating Hofstra and having Drexel
beat Monmouth. Drexel needs to beat Monmouth and have Hofstra
beat us because we have the tiebreaker over them.
Know what sucks? The Drexel-Monmouth game is at 3 while we play
at noon. So we can win but won't know our fate until later in
the day.

Men's Weekend Watch: The Final Countdown — Full Conference
Seeding Breakdown
HTML https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/men-s-weekend-watch-the-final-countdown-full-conference-seeding-breakdown/63191
[quote]CAA
Towson (6-0)
Delaware (6-0)
Fairfield (4-2)
Monmouth (2-4)
Drexel (2-4)
Hofstra (2-4)
Stony Brook (2-4)
Monmouth (0-6)
What's at stake?
Over the last month, the Tigers and Blue Hens have cemented
themselves into the back half of the Top 20 — and atop the CAA.
Like their counterparts in the Atlantic 10, both teams used
strong nonconference schedules to prepare them for conference
play. The Blue Hens have had their way in this series, winning
seven of the last eight meetings. Regardless of the results this
weekend, the Tigers will host the CAA Tournament starting next
Thursday afternoon.
It's strange: The CAA feels more settled than usual going into
the final weekend. Gone are the days of pages upon pages of
tiebreaker scenarios. Here they are, via the league office:
The winner of Towson at Delaware will be the No. 1 Seed and face
the No. 4 Seed in the first semifinal at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May
2.
The loser of Towson at Delaware will be the No. 2 Seed and face
No. 3 Fairfield in the second semifinal at 7 p.m. on Thursday,
May 2.
If Drexel and Hofstra finish tied for 4th at 3-4: Drexel is the
#4 seed based on Drexel’s head-to-head victory over Hofstra.
If Drexel and Stony Brook finish tied for 4th at 3-4: Stony
Brook is the #4 seed based on Stony Brook’s head-to-head victory
over Drexel.
If Hofstra and Monmouth finish tied for 4th at 3-4: Hofstra is
the #4 seed based on Hofstra’s head-to-head victory over
Monmouth.
If Monmouth and Stony Brook finish tied for 4th at 3-4: Monmouth
is the #4 seed based on Monmouth’s head-to-head victory over
Stony Brook.
