        2023 Season - 9/8 - Game 2 vs. Rhode Island (#22) - 7:00PM - TV

Second week in a row playing against a team ranked 22nd in the
polls. I wonder if this one will be any different than the last.

What I’m looking for is improvement for all facets of the game
(that includes coaches). I can live with a loss if they leave
everything out on the field and play hard.
When you play games in the Fall not only are you playing to win
the games and your conference but also the recruiting wars by
bringing in the best possible talent.

Its a big loss this weekend at RI. We've had plenty of losses
over the past five years. If we're looking for small wins in
effort and improvement and not wins, we may as well start a Ward
Melville Board and be fans of theirs. This is the sixth year of
losing seasons. I thought maybe two wins this year but after
seeing a poor coached team last week and a team that doesnt have
a lot of talent i think they could go with no win this year.
This OC is not a wiz kid. Maine was not known for their
spectacular air raid. More of the same this week and the only
question is how bad does the team get their butt kicked. Chuck
saying this is a rebuilding year is a joke. The time is now.

I agree with you about being tired of losing but I will never
give up on this program because Coach P will eventually be gone,
but as a fan you have to take the good with the bad. I will
never be a fan that only roots for SBU when they are winning.
Again I care about the players and the coaches on this team and
I believe they will play better against URI than they played
       against Delaware

Fans have to take the good with the bad and the issue is the
administration who keeps extending the coach. they make it very
hard to be a fan. Do you know that the players who graduated
last spring all had losing seasons? and then the administration
extended the coach. if the administrations decisions show they
may not care then fans have a hard time supporting the program.
honestly i think everyone already knows this is a losing season
and is already looking for little wins with effort etc. This
season may be over before it started. I hope i'm wrong for the
sake of the players but its not very likely.

I think everyone that participates on this page qualifies as a
loyal fan of SB sports, and from what I could tell I don't think
anyone here has unreasonable expectations of the program. But in
the case of Priore, it's insulting to the fan base (and I would
add the players) that he keeps coming back year after year, when
his disappointing CAA tenure is well beyond small-sample size.
The fact that he's now trolling us with the rebuilding card
(he's even said 'process') borders on arrogant.
That said, I'll still follow the program and gladly take the
moral victories, along with the occasional actual victories,
       when we get them.

Exactly, but the coach isnt extending himself. Heilbron is. And
the president is on board with it. Its really sad. Like i said i
feel bad for the players but after probably losing tonight they
get a lot of time on the bus ride through new york on the way
home to figure out how the season is going to go. They have to
go out to Arkansas state next week and if they lose that game
you have to think that some kids may stop giving the effort
especially if they get a lot of injuries in these next two
games. The morale after tonight could start to be an issue. its
       sad.
