       Updated August 27, 2023
It had been a season unlike any other for Stony Brook and coach
Chuck Priore. The 2022 Seawolves finished with a 2-9 record, the
worst mark in his 17 seasons. The losses hadn’t gone down well,
and now digesting how it unfolded was borderline nauseating.
Priore could have tried to rationalize it away. He’d been
pressed to double as offensive coordinator in 2021 and 2022
because the school hadn’t replaced Carmen Felus for logistical
and financial reasons. And major injuries to 2022 preseason
Player of the Year Ty Son Lawton and the next three backs on the
depth chart had decimated the ground attack.
Instead, Priore looked in the mirror for an explanation.
“When I grade a team, I start at the top,” he said. “My
abilities to get us fixed at any point in the season? It just
       didn’t happen . . . I didn’t bring it to the level I needed to
bring it, so the kids didn’t bring it to the level they needed
       to bring it.
       “Change starts at the top.”
Athletic teams love to have a catchphrase for the season, and
it’s no different at Stony Brook. At a recent practice, many of
the Seawolves wore T-shirts emblazoned with this season’s
calling card. It has a horizontal line with the word “standard”
above it and the word “feelings” below it. When the players
speak it, they say “standard over feelings.”
“Losing never feels good, and it becomes ‘what are you going to
do about it?’ ” Priore said. “We’ve made changes so we can get
       back to winning.”

Albany won the CAA title (in a 1st-place tie) today.
       Something we have never done.

They had a heck of a season. Impressive bounce season back after
several years of struggles for that program. They shut out
       Monmouth 41-0. Good for them
the positive I can see for Stony Brook here is:
If Albany can go from bottom dwellers to the top of the league
with a new hire... Then that means it's also doable for the
Seawolves football program. We are one decent coaching hire away
       from being competitive again.
Let's hope we get the right hire so that we can return to being
in the top tier of CAA football.

Albany did not hire a new coach. There coach is in his 10th
season there. They have done very well with the transfer
portal. The 2 stud defensive ends are transfers as well as
their quarterback. They also have a few Old Dominion
transfers at WR. Their turn around was hiring the old Towson
head coach as offensive coordinator last year.
Stony Brook can not miss on this hire. We really should look at
       the Kutztown HC.

Removing Priore is just one piece of the puzzle. The entire
athletic department needs to be removed and replaced with
unbiased, non state employees.. What I mean by that is. People
from outside the SUNY system altogether. The AD needs to go. The
assistant AD needs to go. All coaches in football need to go.
Start fresh, and rebuild the brand and SBU name. Bring in
outsiders with zero ties to the SUNY corruption. That is how you
fix things… But, this won’t happen.

I don’t remember who I heard this from but in order to to work
in the Athletic Department in whatever capacity you have to
       become a state employee

Standings wise, Albany is tied for first place, but according to
the CAA, they are not a co champion. Villanova beat Albany, and
since Nova, Richmond and Albany all tied at 7-1, the Albany lose
to Nova knocked them from being co champion. Nova got the AQ
over Richmond, due to previously set tie breakers.

Albany crushed Villanova 31-10. Their only CAA loss was to UNH
       38-31.

Yes, that is true. Maybe I should have said it differently. I
was implying, SBU need to find people not affiliated with any
SUNY school currently. I also said they need to clean house in
tue athletics dept and bring in all new blood from the outside.
Outside of NYS. The swamp runs deep, in this state, and this
school needs to break away from that garbage, and stop being so
Political. And political it absolutely is right now.

       That's Incorrect.
       Albany beat Villanova 31-10.
Albany, Villanova, and Richmond are all CAA Co-Champions.
However, for some reason Villanova received the auto-bid. That
part isn't entirely clear to me.
If Albany defeated Villanova, then why did Villanova get the
       auto-bid?
