I want Albany to keep it going
I know you all think that are athletics are not doing well but I
disagree for instance the CAA is better than the American East
and we’re competing in all sports except football and I believe
whoever takes the reigns as the next HC he will do a very good
job and that’s where I stand
I want Albany to win the whole thing too. Albany was picked to
finish towards the bottom of the CAA with SBU as well this year,
but they recruited well in the off-season to bring in strong
athletes. Something Priore was never able to do. I can't
entirely agree with you about the CAA though. They have fallen
in rankings this year because of the addition of a few schools
that were never athletically strong.
If SBU hires another HC who aligns himself with Coach P there
will be no change in their football program. So, to say it
doesn't matter who they hire SBU will do very well is false.
They can't hire just a coach. They have to hire the right
coach...

Of course they have to hire the right coach but until they
actually announce who they are hiring we can only surmise. I
agree staying in house for the next HC is not the right move and
whoever gets the job should have total control on makes up his
staff including all administrative personnel associated with the
football program
To be fair, Albany was much better than us last year
and had quite a bit of bad luck resulting in a tough W-L record.
No way they should have been ranked near us Pre-season. That
was crazy. At the same time they definitely did bring in some
more talent and improved coaching on top of that .
CAA football did take a huge hit with the departure of JMU and
now Delaware.

The Albany Great Danes season comes to a close with a 59-0
shutout by South Dakota State.
I didn't necessarily want Albany to win. I hate them! But to
lose 59-0 reflects badly upon the top of CAA. Looks like those
teams out west are way better than the CAA teams.
Great season for Albany. I'm glad they are back and happy for
their fans.
Now we need to get back also so we can make that Golden Apple
rivalry competitive again.

The Missouri Valley, and Big Sky are in a league of their own.
The entire Upper Mid-West produces amazing football players and
these kids usually stay local when choosing to play for a
school.
Every other conference in this country cant compete with schools
like NDSU, ND, SDSU, Montana State.
With the lost of JMU, and soon to be Delaware, arguably the CAA
top teams The CAA will only be a middle-of-the-road conference
with no hopes of ever competing in the Championship game

Agreed. The golden age of CAA football seems to be over.

The CAA has been bleeding for too long now losing its top
programs to FBS.
I wonder if now there is motivation for the Mountain West or the
PAC-2 to explore poaching some of this top FCS programs out
west.
They definitely have proud and loyal fan bases to tap into
despite being some of the least populated states

Location, location, location. Many of these upper mid west
universities are too far and costly for travel. They will never
be invited into a G5 or power 5 conference. Thats too bad
because these schools can compete at a higher level in all
sports especially football.

It cost a lot of money to trave on the east coast just in the
CAA. traveling to north carolina and south carolina for lower
level sports is costly. a lot more than it cost in the amerca
east.
